He was Chairman of the Raccoon City Zoo's Board of Directors. His finances were being investigated due to allegations that he was involved in the illgeal trading of rare orchid specimens. Journalist Alyssa Ashcroft had a contact at the zoo that was providing her with information about him but her investigation was put on hold thanks to the Raccoon City outbreak.
