The spider became a key research specimen for the T-virus because of its mobility. Like many animals exposed to the virus the spiders grew to enormous sizes and gained heightened abilities. The Web Spinner was born, but ironically it lost the ability to spin webs, instead it could shoot out an acidic substance at their prey.

The Web Spinner’s spread across the Spencer mansion, easily traversing the terrain. In Raccoon city they spread like wildfire, hiding out in the sewers during the outbreak. When killed a Web Spinners body explodes releasing a ton of baby spiders just waiting to grow. Their mobility and high reproduction rate make them a huge threat of spreading the virus.
