République is a videogame project developed by independent studios Camouflaj and Logan Games (same people behind Metal Gear Solid, Halo, F.E.A.R. and Kinect to name a few). Aimed for an iOS release, République is an ambitious stealth-based adventure game with the goal of raising the bar in terms of presentation, graphical power and story-telling in mobile videogaming.

The story is centered around Hope, a girl who lives in a mysterious, totalitarian nation. Using a stolen phone, she calls and begs you to hack into the nation's surveillance system, assume control, and help her escape from the clutches of the omnipresent Overseer.

République is currently in developing stages and requires funding to become a reality. If you want to help them, please donate to the game's Kickstarter page here . Be sure to finish your donations in units of $0.96 to help them identify us as Biohaze contributors!

Thanks to the global proliferation of iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, hundreds of millions of people are now carrying a powerful gaming device with them every day. Finally, game makers can truly speak to a global audience, an audience that – thanks to touch controls – can easily jump into the interactive experience.

iOS is becoming a great gaming platform, but where are the games for people who love intense action and story-driven experiences? Where are the AAA games designed specifically for touch-based devices? As someone who loathes virtual joysticks, I have great respect for what Chair Entertainment did with Infinity Blade : they built an action game specifically for touch devices. We aim to do the same.

Digital platforms like Steam and the App Store are great, but there's something lacking with digital products. I miss the physical connection (and smell!) of game boxes, strategy guides, and maps. This is why I’m excited to announce the RÉPUBLIQUE JOURNAL , the physical half to the game experience. This high-quality book is a "replica" of the one Hope finds in the game: a musty-worn book passed between secret revolutionaries that features hand-drawn maps, writings from undercover dissenters, newspaper clippings from "The Outside", sketches of the Overseer's inner circle, and even a translation guide to the graffiti found in the world that may lead to hidden supply caches and audio tapes.
This pocket-sized book is the ultimate companion to the République experience. While it's not required to finish the game and understand the story, we know players are going to love it.
Just like the République Journal, the Collector's Edition is being designed as a believable artifact from the game world. More specifically, the Collector's Edition features a hollowed-out copy of the Overseer's Manifesto that Hope uses to hide contraband items. Everything from the journal to the CD and DVD are designed to look exactly like they do in the world of République.

We recently reported on the Kickstarter Campaign for République by Camouflaj and Logan. République has since been announced for PC and Mac in addition to iOS. And now, Biohaze is proud to announce that Staff Member cvxfreak has been participating in the game's development as a consultant.

What does that mean for fans of the Resident Evil series and people intrigued by République? Please read on to find out how Biohaze has become involved in this title.

Sounds interesting, will look into it at is comes closer to release. Although slightly off-topic, I always get slightly annoyed when I hear anyone (for any media) claim themselves or get labeled by the media as so and so's 'biggest fan'. And usually the 'biggest fan' is someone who owns a shit ton of merchandise which comes across as like "They love it more than you simply because they have more disposable income than you do". It just feels slightly insulting is all. No offense intended. Just a personal gripe.

With Biohaze turning seven years old today, it's time to look back on the year that has passed and examine the statistics for the website. I'm proud to announce that with the help of Biohazard 6 we have surpassed both our monthly and yearly record, acting as the best birthday present possible for the site.

October 2012 provided 13,089,808 (thirteen million) hits and through out 2012 we garnered (one hundred and eleven million) 111,943,440 hits with over half a million unique visits.

Thank you to everyone for making Biohaze one of the largest and most welcoming Biohazard communities on the internet! Here's to continual love and success all around.

With Biohazard 6 right around the corner, I want to have our staff ready to go. After much thought, it seems we needed a staff shuffle due to the inactivity of the group. The following changes were made:

Added new moderator: SG79 Congratulations to him!

Members stevebord, Progenitor, Sunglasses and dvader have been added as contributors for their dedication through out the years, though are no longer part of the immediate staff. Any one of them can rejoin when they have the time again.

The community staff is as followed:

Yama (Admin)
Mr. Rod (Coder, Moderator)
cvxfreak (Site Contributor, Moderator)
SG79 (Moderator)

TheBatMan is part of the site staff under the rank of a Site Contributor, though does not partake in moderation.

You can ask any one of us for forum assistance. We may add another moderator in due time, though will see how this smaller group works out.

So... what's everyone think? Let's dig into the details! I've transcribed and uploaded the majority of the files onto PU. Will add more as I find them.

Probably the most confusing, controversial file in the series, the " Report on B.O.W. " is a file written by Dr. Marcus about him injecting different creatures with a virus. The file itself says he is using Progenitor, and the animals he's using sound like they're describing the same ones you actually encounter in the game.

It'd be fine if they were infected with Progenitor and it was left at that, but the series makes a point about the Progenitor Virus being almost worthless for creating a B.O.W. That's the whole reason for the t-Virus Project, and B.O.W. creation isn't what makes the Progenitor Virus so valuable, it's actually its unique ability to mutate DNA and recombine genes which could be improved and then applied to B.O.W. creation.

At first glance, "Insect", "Amphibian" and "Mammal" appear to be describing the Plague Crawler, Lurker and Eliminator respectively. However, all material that actually talks about these creatures directly states that they were created with the t-virus, and the file makes no mention of the fact that the Plague Crawler was created through combining the genetic material of several insects. So with that in mind, we can safely say that it is not talking about those B.O.W.s.

Marcus initially combines the Progenitor virus with leech DNA while administering the virus to leech test subjects, in September 1977. He concludes that this will lead to the first successful t-virus, but it's not the t-virus yet. Marcus also notes in his diary for October (the next entry after his revelation about leech DNA) that progress is slow because he needs to use humans as the mammalian base organism... a conclusion he actually reaches in the Report on B.O.W. file.

October 23
It's no use! I cannot expect further progress experimenting on guinea pigs.
If I do not use humans as the mammalian base organism, my research will be forever at a standstill.

In addition, if humans are not used as the base, further development is not expected.

The two files are directly linked by that one conclusion. The new virus only becomes the t-virus on January 13, 1978, when Marcus completes it. Umbrella didn't name a virus "t" until it was actually a success. Otherwise they would just say "Progenitor variant", which is why TYPE-A and TYPE-B in the BH1 remake are still Progenitor rather than "t". The time between September and January, and Marcus' frustrations about the human base organism matter is the reason he began human experiments with the Progenitor virus, which is why Billy says "He must've kept messing around with the Mother Virus (Progenitor Virus)!", rather than the t-virus.

Basically; the file is talking about the Progenitor Virus, after it was combined with leech DNA but before it was completed and became known as the "t-virus." Also some supplemental explanations on Marcus' Diary here:

November 15
It seems someone has noticed my experiments in that part of the place.
...However, I don't care.
They will "assist" my experiments if they become a hindrance.

Marcus is actually (unknowingly) referring to Albert Wesker. Wesker is the one who reported Marcus' human experiments and bad management to Spencer, and this was when he actually found out about them.

January 31
There are signs that the device kept secret in my room was operated.
Someone seems to have come targeting "t". Foolish fellow.
It's probably the work of Spencer's group.

February 11
Signs that the secret laboratory entrance was explored following the other day have been found.
If that is their intention, I should consider suitable measures.
For the time being, I'll let William and Albert smoke out the dog...
Those are the only two people that I can trust, other than my beautiful leeches.
Spencer... at this rate, it's not over.

These two entries are also referring to Wesker, who after reporting Marcus to Spencer, was ordered to steal the t-virus from Marcus so that Spencer could subsequently shut down the training facility and transfer all t-virus research to the Arklay Laboratory. Marcus has no idea, considering he trusts Wesker and Birkin quite firmly.

Also; the reason the Lurker is so similar to the description of the amphibian in the Report on B.O.W. file is because amphibians don't have a lot of adaptability, which is why Marcus repeated the experiment with the completed t-virus and got the same result. Changing the virus wouldn't change the effect on amphibians since they are a dead-end.
