3SO is out!

Has been since yesterday. Got the Gill unlock and a theme for pre-ordering.

Took until about 6am for Xbox.

Heard about the VF5FS news yesterday, was happy to hear it, but, it won't be out till Summer 2012 or something so it's like -_-

Got 3SO, I suck at it and it's far from my fav fighter, but, I got it anyway because it was always one of the only SF games I actually did like.

Twelve's neutral throw is officially called the Colgate Squeeze.

Low budget or not, with online play AND 3 games for $10, it's a steal. Besides, it's the first time those games have been ported properly from the looks of it. MK 2011 can be put on ice for.. ever.

So I've been playing SF3: 3rd Strike Online Edition. I really like Q but I'm not good with him, which is a real shame. However, I'm having a lot of fun playing as Elena. She's pretty lethal.

I don't think MK9 is a bad game by any standards. Its only flaw is simply that it is in fact, MK. MK is MK. It's not something that's amazing by competitive fighting game respects. MK9's engine is probably one of the better versions of the MK engine in general.

But, it's still essentially MK. They tried hard to try and bring MK into the hardcore fighting crowd, but, it still is only really enjoyed for the most part by the casual and MK fanboy crowd. It's not something particularily deep, nor does it avail tons of options and variety.

Reptile's Energy Ball projectile is a great example of why MK will never be highly competitive. Virtually no risk, retarded amounts of priority, practically full screen control, tons of reward. And too many chars and moves work like that, that it really self-defeats itself from ever becoming anything resembling deep.

Either way, I'll probably get MK kollection since I always did enjoy MK2 and 3 quite a bit and the HD remakes do look quite nice. I'll get them for the same reason I got 9. Nostalgia. Can't stand playing MK9 from a competitive stand point which is why I virtually never go online with it. But, it was nice to play it for the story mode and enjoy that aspect of reliving the story in far more detail and in a new way.

Uh, the force/energy ball wasn't safe in the 2D games but I can't comment on the new one. Novella aside, my issue with MK9 is that control and feel wise, it retains the clunky aspect of the 3D games. It's just not as smooth as UMK3 or even MKII. Is it more balanced? Sure, but that's not saying much.

I'll just stick with the old school SF's and Tekken in general for my fighter fix. My competitive days are behind me so I might as well have fun.
