Did a search, no results. Surprising for a service that's been available for over a year in the US.

Launched over here in Engerland in the past few weeks, gave it a whirl for the first time today and i'm actually amazed by it! Personally i didn't think our broadband was ready for it yet, but i played a trial of Stalker for about 20 minutes and didn't encounter any problems at all - works as advertised!

Anyone else given it a spin?

I've been seeing ads about it on youtube out the wazoo. I'd try it, but I have too much going on right now to get into it. Maybe in the future.

I've always been opposed to cloud gaming, just another way of taking more control and ownership away from the actual user.

Great news, thanks.

Can't just be a bit of fun, no?

I like to put down any uprisings of 'fun' in my vicinity, Stu.

You know this.

Does OnLive have alot of content? I see the occational ad.. but in the states it hasent really caught on.

OnLive is a game delivery concept that will probably be the future of gaming if the major 3 first parties do it correctly. I dont wish for services like OnLive to be the future because I think it takes away the ownership of games from consumers.(like Spencer said) But it works.. its fast and in time it will be reliable. From a publisher standpoint Digital Ditribution is a dream. Overall I think we'll get to the point of having an Onlive type of system on Xbox or Playstation but not before we move to pure downloads. We are already moving in that direction so its just a matter of time until gaming adopts the steaming model too.
Hopefully though, as we gamers dont prefer this method of delivery now, it will continue to be like that for the near future. If first parties dont catch on to this next gen its a big win for us. I really dont want it to happen but it will. Its just a matter of when.

Heard about it. Haven't tried it but the description of it turns me off because it requires an internet connection all the time. You're also subject to the server status which may fail/disconnect in the middle of a game, and unlike in traditional non-streaming gaming, you can't continue or save progress offline.

They're already pushing for digital distribution on the PlayStation Network, with a number of retail games being sold in the Store. Mind you, the fact that they sell them for £60 is madness considering that you can procure a retail boxed copy for around £40-45.

The box (can't even call it that, it's smaller than a 360 controller) came today. Hooked it up to the TV and it delivers exactly as advertised. Demo'd a few games and i think aside from one i wasn't able to detect any lag - that's a huge achievement! Particularly since i originally didn't think UK broadband would be up to the task.

Tried Hitman, Dirt 3, Arkham Asylum, Wheelman and Orcs Must Die through it so far, no problems at all.

I'm not saying for one moment that OnLive in any way represents the future, or where gaming is headed, but as an alternative - i'm quite blown away by it at this early stage. To me it'll never replace my 360 or PS3, it's a considerable distance behind them in that respect.

Of course, not being able to play offline might be a concern to some people, but if you're happy to take the hit on those it makes for a very credible games machine.

Batman: Arkham City has cost me £27, and that included the free console. Couldn't be happier with it to be honest.

It's a good idea in theory, but it takes over control from the gamers, they have complete control and once the service dies, you'll lose all the games you bought. At least with Steam you can still play your games in offline mode, even if Steam's master servers go offline.
