ROM does less than a few hits from Sent Mike, come on. I know you don't play high level but at least try and hear me out. The whole point to ROM is to reset it and the entire point of Mags is to mix up. The ROM quite honestly is just a set up nowadays, not a viable tactic. This isn't 2002. Triangle jump into five hard kicks is so much more beastly than ROM, it does half bar in a matter of three seconds. Even then, the Iron Man inf. is one anyone can learn unlike Mags. Seriously though, just watch one of Yipes latest videos. The whole game is mix up, strategic mind messing with rediculously fast reflex. And in almost all of the latest and best match videos, you either don't see ROM or see it as a reset/set up. If you were to get hit by it, big deal? It does about 45%, you have two and a half characters left. It's like getting hit by one Sent combo or less. A lot of the game has changed now, the things you despise are a non issue among true high level play (not scrubs trying to get a win record up on XBL).

And for the record, I said the above as a joke because it'd look funny. I obviously can and do execute the ROM, but in the manner I told you above. To rely on it is so 2002.

I always avoid playing ranked in mvc2 online on XBL because EVERY time I play it's the same stupid people knowing a single launch + air combo + hyper finish and that is ALL they do over and over and over. Sweep/Trip/Slide into a launcher, Hyper Jump up, perform air combo, enact Hyper Combo Super. That's their entire gameplay and nothing but.

It's BORING.

Oh, and you used ROM on me when we fought, don't forget. I just find it really stupid to lose 50-100% of your life from getting hit 'once' which allows your opponent to launch and juggle you until you're dead or near dead. I mean, juggling in fighters wouldn't bug me so much if there was like an opportunity to 'counter' during a juggle which could totally screw up the juggler. Since in a real fight even if someone is pounding away on your face you still have the CHANCE to push him off of you, catch his fist, kick him, etc. etc. to stop him. Not just someone trips you and now you're dead with zero chance to fight back. That's just dumb.

Can't stand the people who go into player matches and try to do this crap to look cool against less skilled players who are playing low tier chars just for fun. And I REALLY hate how you can't boot people from your own room, so when some douche comes in and does this crap I have to leave and remake the room. Dar

Funny thing is, I try and wait to see what the other team will pick. If they go high I pick one of my top teams, if they go low I try and pick a low tier team. Problem is every scrub loves to wait in order to counter pick, meaning spam commando and still get raped. They ruin it for themselves. If I come into a room and see low tiers I pick them as well, however there are quite a few people who main low tiers and do just as many if not more infinites with them as highs. So should I still not be subject to using my top team? People like Joe Zaza and Vidness make quick work of some of the better MSP's out there (Soo, Pablo, etc.). So one could make the counter argument, but I for one am with you on this. Enter, see how the low tiers play. Either leave or join in the 'fun.' If they are using them at a truly high level, feel free to do whatever you wish. Otherwise play along and have fun for what it is worth.

Sadly not everyone has the same mindset and you are right, some people are dicks. Cable is broken cake, but Mags takes a ton of work to play at high level. Knowing that someone is working for damage, high tier or not, is justifiable imho. It shows they put in the time, can't falt them in that regard. Coming in after learning Cable's AHVB (3 mins) and blasting away Spidey, yeah... that's cheese. Neither is cool, but half of the scrubs don't even realize what it takes to play at a high level with Mags. That's where I loose sympathy. I was told MvC2 was a game of easy infinites, which is false beyond Iron Man's. I was asked how do you play this game, mash? Within a minute of showing my hands executing, the downplaying statement always turns into awe. That's what MvC2 is though, easy to pick up and have a blast with yet extremely hard to master. Hey, I played low tiers at CTF and got wrecked. If everyone played the pitty game I'd never learn the games true potential either. I pick a team because I like it, sure. But sometimes you have to experience what is out there in order to enjoy and understand it.

In the end it's the same story with two different endings. I feel raining on ones parade as you speak of is absolutely douche bag. Let the people who want to have casual fun have some. On the other hand those who want to be good or think their competitive, stop bitching about things you don't have the skill, reflex or patience to learn. It's up to the player who already has ten years experience to use their judgement. Can't believe it even has to be written, but as you said, some people really are dicks and enter rooms just to kill the mood. I'll always agree that's lame.

Well you said if they pick low tiers should you not be allowed to pick your high tier if their low tier can play high game etc. Well, this was a 'player match' we're talking about. You shouldn't really be worried about losing a round to a low tier without your high tier mains. You can always go in expecting casuals, get squashed by high end play, then recoup and come back with your A-team and squash back.

Also, I don't play low tiers to avoid playing high tier. I play who I like. Some of the chars I like happen to be considered high tier. The mains I pick from whenever I play are:

Tron Bonne, Shuma Gormath, Spiral, Blackheart, Ruby Heart, Psylocke, Servbot, Gambit, Iceman, Magneto, Storm, Thanos, Jill Valentine, and Morrigan.

The first four being my mains, the rest being chars I add into a mix of the original 4 when I start getting bored playing the same chars.

And I have no problem with high level play in a game. I just PERSONALLY feel it's pointless in marvel considering the game is so broken. You yourself mentioned how easy it is to do infinites with iron man, and how cheap Cable is. And the bulk majority of teams out there have Iron Man or Cable on them.

Also, while it may take a considerable amount of skill to play Magneto right, it doesn't change the fact it's just not 'fun' to have someone land a 'single' hit on you that opens you up to eating a combo that takes half your health or more and then have them repeat this on you the entire match.

I don't play Tekken 6 for that reason because that game when I played it online was just, launch me into air, beat the crap out of me until I hit the ground then stomp the crap out of me while i'm on the ground and virtually take 90% of my life before I can even get back up.

Virtua Fighter has juggles etc. but, there's a limit to it. You can't do too many hits to someone who's launched into the air past a few, and once you hit the ground you have options to avoid a continued combo on you.

THAT is how I like my fighters, where it's FAIR and BALANCED so that matches don't become so one sided, rewarding the player who was able to land a combo first while placing the other player at a major disadvantage.

Like I said, everytime I play MvC2 online with randoms, I get people who like for example with Jill will low kick or slide into me then launch me into the air, do a combo followed by her dash super in the air. And the entire round will consist of this Jill player repeating this SAME combo over and over and over so anytime they happen to get a low hit on me they got a free combo to eat my health like crazy.

I don't 'awe' at that, even if they had to memorize 100+ button presses to make that combo happen, I still wouldn't be impressed because it's still 'boring' to sit and watch a match play out like that with the same damn combo happening over and over and over with absolutely no variety in the gameplay, on TOP of using such tactics against opponents clearly inferior than you in a PLAYER match against casuals who are clearly there just trying to have fun.

If it was like SF3 where you could parry an entire super, I wouldn't say as much in complaint because at least you'd have some kind of options.

Missing out would be me not trying it. I tried MvC2 and didn't like it. It's not for me.
