If your dad died and he was the President, I'm sure that can motivate anyone to go beyond the threshold of what they are capable of. Sure she was weak and annoying in RE4, but circumstances are different this time around.

Just as Leon was a naive rookie cop in RE2, then became a seasoned, wise-cracking government agent. Though I have to say the girl with the short haired merc sounds more like Ashley than anyone.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, maybe we should just give this some time to develop and for Capcom to release some more info, then maybe we will find out who the newer faces in the crowd are and what their purposes are.

Why would the Presidents daughter right after her dad is killed join forces with Wesker's who knows what and go on secret merc missions around the world?

Alex Wesker's blood is the cure. Maybe she is motivated since she was never able to get the cure to her father in time? Thus taking on a mission to ensure Alex holds up his end of the deal after he gets paid? She has nothing left to lose after her dad dying. She wants to help all the others that she couldn't help before? I have a lot of speculation here.

Maybe he met with Ashley along the road and both developed together.

I think if its Sherry, she was probably kept in custody of the government until she was old enough to be of use to them and they trained her (kind of like how they basically forced Leon to join them and help them since he survived). It's not like she had anywhere else to go since her family is dead.

Maybe she's taken their route and become somewhat of a scientist, thus the whole blood thing. And also, maybe she's sent since she can sympathize with him since she has G-virus in her blood and etc.
