^ I'd say the mother was being responsible, just in an over-the-top way. Maybe SHE'S on Heroin.

Maybe parents are more uptight these days but my parents had no problem with me playing Doom and Wolfenstein 3D when i was younger than the kid in question. i used to sit and play Wolfenstein with my mom. maybe thats the root of the problem, these days parents want a game they can just hand their kid and say go play get out of my hair and not worry about what the game is.

honestly if i was a parent, i would know my kid and what their mind is like. sure some people can handle the violent games others cant. knowing my child and the game they want would help make the decision. of course being a gamer myself changes things.

you can defintely do a lot worse in terms of violence and questionable material than RE3. but i think we all know that.

The mother was over overreacting if she didnt want her son to see or want a M rated game she should not have taken him to GameStop. Also why would a person flip about a game and go nuts in public.

I love it when parents play the "violent game" card. Violent games don't make violent people dammit. I've been playing mature rated titles from that age and I don't really wanna go out on a rampage..she does know it's not gonna be incredible realistic..yano with zombies and 7ft tall mutants with RPGs not being real and stuff?

And then comes silent hill and sigmund freud... lots of mind fucks and violence there... hell the warning they show at the begining : "this game may contain images that maybe considered violent and or cruel" is even an understatement... but I'm glad jack thompson held on to gta instead of sh or re.. that dumbass

Basically what I'm saying is silent hill is far worse than resident evil in terms of actually everything... but that's why I love that series

Anyway my mother let me play silent hill and re when I was a kid... only game she had problems with was... (can't remember the name but it wasn't a really well known game (><)
Hell my mother played games with me

OMFG, im going to ignore the guy who witnessed that and say "That mom is a dumbass!!"

I can agree with the mother with not wanting to let their child play resident evil simply because its violent. But not because they think the game is actually evil. But parents who are afraid of that, or parents who shelter their kids from reality (even though its a video game) will raise kids who wont be able to survive on their own in the real world. I remember i was in to resident evil since RE3 came out, and im 14 now. My mom didn't want me to play the games simply because it had the word "Evil" in the title. But once i explained to her what the game is about, and how the game got its name, she doesn't care. Parents should just find out and research stuff about these kind of things instead of immediately believing something like "Resident evil is a game with a bunch of devil worshiping, unholy images, Witch craftery, etc."

All I can say is thank god my parents were all like "If you can't handle it, go to your room." when they brought Resident Evil into the house. The only game that was never allowed into my household even when I was a teenager was Grand Theft Auto. To be honest, I can't really blame em. But hell, I helped my Mom and Dad as they played Resident Evil. I miss my childhood sometimes. Now my Dad sucks at the game and whenever I mention it he couldn't care less.

But on an ON TOPIC note. Parents like that piss me off. Your kid acts crazy not because they play some video game but because of their expirences and how you raise them. I've had an expirence when I got in a fight with one of those parents over a Resident Evil game too. One thing I have to say to them is: You better check yourself before you wreck yourself.

You argued with a parent about how they were raising their child?

I hope they beat the shit out of you. Once, for daring to suggest how they bring up a kid. And secondly, for considering bumping an old thread.
