English versions only. Taking into account content, graphical quality, sound quality and censorship. Which is the best? It's one of my favourite games of all time and I want to get the best version of it there is. I haven't included the original Playstation or Windows versions due to their quality not being as close to the DC and GC editions.

Thanks

I'm still vouching for PlayStation.

I've done some research and it seems that the Gamecube version of Resident Evil 3 is the definitive. It's got the cleanest graphics with full anti-aliasing applied and uncompressed FMV's. The Dreamcast version only looks marginally better than the Playstation original with jagged (aliased) and glitchy looking character models. Also the Dreamcast Resident Evil 3 FMV's look awful, with compressed video (why!?). Apart from unlocked costumes and VMU support there seems no reason to play this version over the Gamecube. Which is a shame because Dreamcast has the best version of Resident Evil 2.

I'm pretty sure the Gamecube FMVs are actually very heavily compressed. Not as much as the PS1 version, but still. I don't think they're much different from the Dreamcast FMVs, since the GD-ROM and mini-DVD have similar capacities. The only uncompressed FMVs are found in the PC version by Sourcenext, and those have hard-coded Japanese subtitles which kills the appeal a little. They also have very jagged edges, which are commonly the result of up-scaling.

The "uncompressed" FMVs in the Sourcenext version of BH2 though are terrible and taken from an .mpeg source. They look washed out and dull. I have never seen the raw FMVs for BH2 or BH3 used anywhere except in the DVD of Wesker's Report.

The GC version did have some smooth FMVs, so I'm going with that one.

My biggest gripe with the GC ports is that they changed the title calls. I just like hearing "Resident Evil" with an oninous tone.

I say the PC version is by far the best... the DC verison is ok because of the VMU (I love it)... but the PC version is the best looking one by far... (except the part about Merc mode being Sepperate from the main game...)

Dreamcast, for the 2 extra costumes if nothing else. They all look like crap on modern TVs so minor graphical differences shouldn't be an issue.

Looks decent via VGA on the Dreamcast.

I am now fairly certain that the PC version of BH3 is the definitive version.
