Ok lets really break this down. The game is pretty awesome, not my favorite but a worthy entry into the series and taking into account that it is a portable game it is pretty remarkable what they have done.

Things I didn't like:

The story is crappy. Its told in an exciting way to keep your actions interesting but as a story that adds to the RE universe it sucks balls. Take away Chris and Jill and this game has little to do with anything.

Combat sections where they throw a million enemies at you and you are basically on a flat arena. This is nothing like RE4/5 where every big action area is superbly designed to create a great action setpiece, here it is poorly done and its nothing but a shooting gallery.

The Parker segment in episode 11, WTF!!! The game is super exciting, you are getting epic boss battles, its everything you want from a RE ending and then... you go back in time where you escort a dude while shooting hunters in small hallways with a pistol. It killed the mood, it was like running into a brick wall. Terrible.

Puzzles? No moving around wires is not a puzzle, I guess the coin thing is the only thing that comes close. How do you go back to an old style and forget one of the key elements of the series. You have a touch screen with so many possibilities for puzzle. RE4 had better puzzles than this game, hell even RE5 at least had one good one.

Things I loved:

Great variety in situations and events. By the end I didnt know what the game was going to be throwing at me, it really kept me on my toes.

Enemy design, I loved it, a return to T-virus like enemies. Rachel is one of the best designs in a long while and she chases you everywhere, so awesome!

Great bosses! Loved the mix of giant monsters with more human mutated ones. Having a Tyrant at the end was so awesome.

Graphics are incredible for the 3D. Amazing 3D effects. The soundtrack is amazing! Production values through the roof.

The mood is a great return to horror. Genuinely creepy at parts especially with the way they use sound. The final chapter was perfectly done to create one hell of a freaky scene.

Unlockables and extra modes. The game is stacked. I have had only a taste of raid mode but I know I will sink a huge amount of time into it.

The difficulty was great on normal. It was just right to keep you on your toes throughout and not get cocky. Bosses offer a noticable spike in difficulty as they should. The game should be a great challenge on hell mode.

So does anyone else think Jessica is 'that bitch'? Considering the game was supposed to reveal plot points that directly tie into Biohazard 6, I don't feel it's too far fetched.

I hope she is. I liked how her character was presented in the game and would make a ton of sense considering she has the virus in her power. I also think she and Raymond are agents of Ada's organization. At this point I believe the organization is actually the Global Pharmaceutical Consortium which are the rival companies of Umbrella.

I don't think so, and i'd prefer it to be. Think it was this thread i posted it in - but it'd be great if the Revelations arc was confined to handhelds.

I think it is Jessica who "That Bitch" is.
Also makes sense with "We don't have time for your personal vendetta"
Jessica was Chris's partner, that makes it very personal, So I think the Organisation will have Jessica heading China in Chris's Scenario, and Ada in Tall Oaks in Leon's.

So I just beat RE: Revelations and here are my thoughts.

1. New Characters:
I loved all the new characters in this game.

Jessica
I really loved her character I thought that she was a great supporting character to the story’s plot and I absolutely loved all her sarcasm; perhaps that’s because I’m sarcastic myself. When she tells Chris she told him so about the monsters behind the door, to harassing Parker about buying her dinner! I thought it was all great. I do question her attire though, but I suppose that one’s on Capcom. I was very disappointed that she turned out to be a mole. I would have loved to see her return in another game as the main protagonist, or a supporting character to the main protagonist.

Parker
What can I say? At first I didn’t like him, but when he fell to his “death” I was shocked and upset. In the end I liked the guy and thought he was a great supporting character to Jill.

Quint and Keith
So all the reviews I read on this game talked about how these two were so annoying and terrible that you would want to mute the sound, or cut off your ears. WTF are these reviewers talking about? I found these guys hilarious!!! They provided great comic relief. I was always chuckling when Quint did or said something stupid. Like when he falls down from the “invisible” hunter and freaks out. Good moments in the game came from these guys. I was not laughing with them, but at them. I liked having to dumbasses in the game. What did you guys think of them?

2. Gameplay

I thought the gameplay was terrific. For me, it was a tremendous balance between horror elements and action elements. I think this game was a HUGE step in the right direction for how future games should be made. Jill’s adventures on the ship with minimal enemies and slow moving monster, to more action packed sequences with Keith and Quint was great.
I also loved the swimming. I played the game using the circle pad pro, which I believe really helped with the overall controls. The swimming was not perfect, and could have been controlled better, but those segments of the game were unique and a fresh new idea to the series that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Oh and the dodge controls basically sucked!! The final boss fight was terrible because the dodge never seems to work correctly.

3. Story

I was a little upset by the whole “smoke and mirrors” conspiracy, and the O’Brian was in on the scheme the whole time. I feel like so many movies, games, and TV shows add twist and conspiracies’ to it that they are just overdone. I mean whatever happened to a simply bad guy vs. good guy plot? I really liked the “previously on revelations” cutscenes. I thought they gave the game a good vibe; as if you were watching a television show from week to week. The ending epilogue’s where cool, and of course about a thousand questions were brought up regarding Jessica and Raymond’s ending?? I also like how the game jumped from each character’s story. The game would not have been nearly as good, IMO, if they had let you play as on character, then after beating the game go on and play as another. Ex.. Beat the game as Jill and unlock Chris’s scenario.

4. Revelations??

So other than having this be a fun game to play on a handheld what was the point? I thought this game was going to fill some plot holes and answer questions about the series. It didn’t do any of that, it just asked its own questions and answered them before the game was over. And what happened to the scene we saw in the teaser trailer for this game? The one with Chris and Jill pointing their guns at each other? Obviously it was left out and changed from the game, but I wonder if Capcom ever had any intentions of putting that in the game, and what was the purpose/meaning behind it? Or did they just have that scene in the teaser to get people interested? Any of you guys know?

Overall I thought Revelations was a great success to the RE universe and definitely worth the 200 dollars I paid to buy a 3DS. This game has got me very excited for the future of Resident Evil!!

If any of you made it this far thanks, and HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!

It's been a few days now since I beat Revelations. I absolutely loved it. Simply fantastic. This is what RE5 should have been, and what Lost In Nightmares DLC only hinted at. Exploring dark, claustrophobic corridors and hearing unsettling, inhuman moans around a corner... that's what true Resident Evil is all about. And this game delivers plenty of that. While at the same time not losing sight of the action elements. The story, full of missing characters, deceptions and double-crossings, is vintage Resident Evil. In essence, we've seen this before. Thankfully, the game acknowledges this, and the story is told in very unconventional ways, jumping from location to location and mixing the present with flashbacks, so now you're never given a linear narrative. Some people may find this annoying claiming it disrupts the mood. Not me. One previous complaint I've had with classic Resident Evil games, is that the creepy, claustrophobic atmosphere gets too oppressive after playing for a considerable amount of time. Revelations fixes that by taking you to a new location or throwing you a flashback just at the right moment. That also gives the game a more epic feel. If there's one thing I did not like about this episodic treatment, it's those recap little segments at the beginning of each chapter. They could only work if people take their time between play sessions and are not in a hurry to beat the game. But to hardcore fans who may blow through the campaign in no time, this feature is useless. But for the most part this new unorthodox way of storytelling is a success, and I definitely see it making a comeback for RE6, especially with those three main characters. That won't work in a linear structure.

I really liked the new enemies. Those albino things look like something out of Silent Hill, but they move and sound like old school zombies. And they sound disturbingly good. That's another triumph of this game. Both the music and the sound effects are simply some of the best in any Resident Evil game. Playing this game with head phones is a fantastic experience. Getting back to the albino, zombie-like things. They shuffle around like zombies. And they have this nasty habit of contorting their bodies as they move toward you. Makes head shots very difficult and ups the tension considerably. But you may ask, if those things move and sound like zombies... why not just make them zombies in the first place? I think the idea is that Capcom never meant to duplicate older Resident Evil games. Only to 'remind' you of older Resident Evil games. To make a similar experience and at the same time improve on that similar experience. I certainly don't see old school zombies contorting their bodies like that. And these Ooze guys are a bit more effective at scaring the crap out of you than the undead were. The same idea goes for the Rachel monster, who brings back memories of the Nemesis, or the Forest Speyer zombie from the remake. Monsters that stalked and hunted you. And then, there's the final boss, very reminiscent of the Tyrant, but teleporting and playing mind tricks by setting up a decoy, something the Tyrant never did.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the swimming segments. I've heard people say it's like Tomb Raider. A bit similar, but Lara never fought enemies under water. I was actually reminded of a similar sequence in the movie 'Alien Resurrection', with the heroes swimming in a flooded area of the spaceship and aquatic aliens chasing them. At the moment, I'm playing 'Raid' mode extensively. A great extra, which in many ways it feels like a natural progression from The Mercenaries. All in all, Revelations is a complete triumph. I'm so glad that Capcom not only delivered a full-fledged RE game on a handheld, but also gave us a game that pioneers techniques that may very well come back in future titles.

Just beat Revelations tonight and I have to say I'm overall EXTREMELY pleased with the game. I only have very few gripes but they're not enough to hinder the game at all. The game was actually longer than I expected. The story while not anything to write home about was actually pretty enjoyable. Plus, the replayability is awesome especially in the Raid Mode area. I have to aid that my favorite thing about the game was the music. Some of the best in the series IMO. The final boss battle was pretty fun too but once you get a hang of the dodge mechanics in the game most of the enemies become cake. I like being able to dodge though. A feature I welcomed back with open arms. One of my biggest gripes was the weapon upgrading thing. I'm not a fan of what they did with it. I like 4/5 system better but it isn't bad enough to make me cry. But I'd say this game is up there on my favorite RE games list. Oh, lastly, I actually ended up really liking a lot of the new characters. They weren't as bad as I thought they would be.

Well I have now been playing this game for a few days, and I am quite overwhelmed currently........this is far more beautiful, cunning, atmospheric, sinister, and detailed than I had expected. The few gripes that I had read in the IGN & Gamestop reviews, were unfounded, and baseless, like the criticism that the Ooze don't appear to be affected by gunshots in a satisfying way.....utter garbage, they're fucking Ooze monsters.

To conclude people, this game is well into the top 5 all time Resident Evil games, and when it scales its heights, it is in the top 3. Why ? ~

You speak of jumping in fright when a Cerberus burst through the hallway windows of the Spencer mansion; but your heart may just leave your body through your mouth when you experience some of the true shock moments of this game.....you have been warned. The musical score playing often in the background is one of the most well orchestrated albums a Resident Evil game has been blessed with, and the type of detail in the environments is sometimes truly blissful in a way not seen since Resident Evil 2 ~ NOT the detail in the graphics, but the SOUL of these images, as felt when you walk through the graffiti splashed streets of Resident Evil 2's Raccoon City.....so in one of the darkest corners of The Queen Zenobia (or is it her sister liner ?!) the dark is illuminated by the neon rainbowed glow of a soft-drink dispenser, reminding the player that safe & normalised humanity once existed here.

Oh, and a reference to a certain architect, in a survival horror setting.......pure heaven.
