Who have trouble with Norman:

Rifle abilities were Damage+80% and Firing Rate+10% if memory serves, just thought I'd put this here since I hear a lot of people complaining about him being difficult.

I forget the chapter number off hand where you get that rocket but it's hard to miss. In the area where you fight Rachael and a Scagdead on a timer, it's sitting right near a door you need to enter. You can also get it on your way back in the next chapter when the area is flooded.

Also the bad sound isn't my doing, I'm using my friend's capture card and it's always like that for some reason, it sucks for sound.

Rifle is terrible against him because of how slow it is to actually pull shots off compared to the window you have to hit him before he attacks.

Best strategy is to use a heavy SMG with damage and critical buffs. Back up constantly and blast his heart when he appears to stop his attack and continue spraying him til he closes it up.

Aim for purple gas mouth when you see two, same strategy otherwise. And just keep on the move when he starts dashing. He'll pause after the attack and give you time to hit him.

When he falls over, unload on the yellow cyst.

I tried a shotgun at close range with buffs but it took forever to get through his phases. SMG blew through all 4 phases in a matter of minutes with no issues.

Theres a weapon box there if you need it, plenty of ammo before and inside the room and two herbs plus more outside.

Battle is fairly straight forward and simple once you learn his attacks.

Yeah I know the rifle isn't really the best choice for that fight but I can't help but use it, it's fun. Although you can add Firing Speed parts to deal with most of the speed issue. Not to mention I was doing a speedrun and my rifle was pretty much the only gun that had ammo and could deal any decent damage outside the launcher.

I do agree with you though, I never really found any Shotgun useful unless you used a fully charged shot and even then it took ages. On my Infernal run I ended up using my MG (which had the auto load part - awesome part btw) and firing away for most of the battle.

One thing I did notice after trying to knife him, I checked out the fight on the 3DS version and his heart seems to be exposed permanently on that version which means the fight is easier, unless there's something I'm missing. I never played the 3DS version so I wouldn't know but as far as I can tell the only way to get his heart exposed in the port is in his third phase.

Well, exposed outside those split second gaps when he's about to hit you I mean.

I finally beat this tool on infernal last night mainly using an M3 with charge shot, burst, damage 7, and close range mods. I didn't have the rocket launcher (which is found in 7-2, IIRC) because I wasted it on Norman during my normal run, so for his third phase I used a Python with damage 7 and burst mods. Only died once, somehow.

^ Pretty much my strategy for the Infernal fight as well. I was relying on the charged M3 or M40A1 for the first half of the fight; and then I realized it just wasn't going quick enough for me to last. So I switched to a Python with 3-shot burst/Damage 6/(and either Fire rate or Reloading boost), burned through my magnum ammo for the first two phases, and then shot a Rocket Launcher at him as he began to rush towards me at the end.

With the heart being more exposed in the 3DS version, I remember mainly using the rifle or the P90. I dont how I pulled that off, because in the port, relying on the rifle just wasn't working for me in the same way.

I made sure to reload the file(although slightly tedious) anytime I died so it didnt screw up my rank.
