I subscribed to LoveFilm using a promotional code and rented Laid to Rest for free, and Cannibal Ferox 2. I look forward to getting my free Amazon twenty quid voucher as well, cos that's why I joined, and then they'll be notified near the end of the month that I don't want to pay after the trial is up.

Other than that, I watched Dr. Terror's House of Horrors on DVD, which is an old movie but very good.

Easily one of the best Trek movies by far.

The Lazarus Project starring Paul Walker. If you have Netflix I recommend this movie, it's not bad at all.

I just watched Clerks. Never seen it in my life, now I'm happy I saw it.

What smell like shoe polish? or No time for love, Dr. Jones. Are my two favorite lines in the movie.

The Thing (2011)

I went into this not expecting a better film than the John Carpenter version which still holds a place in my top three favourite films of all time which made the experience all the more enjoyable.

Yes, it's a prequel and comparing it to the 1982 version is a bit illogical but there are some similar events that happen in this version. Regardless, I thought this was an excellent lead-up to The Thing (1982). Albeit there are a few plot holes and inconsistency's but those exist in its follow up, I could tell which members of the cast were infected about 75% of the time which killed some suspense. The effects of the Things were a bit too "videogame" for my liking, I know they are a mix of practical and CGI, but I guess I'm just a sucker for Rob Bottin's work which still exceeds some of today's examples in my opinion. As well as that I didn't like seeing the interior of the spacecraft.

All in all, I'd say it's the best prequel I've seen in a very long time and it kept very true to the theme of paranoia and isolation, a great horror film that leads right into a classic.

(Oh, and "Splitface" was awesome!)

8/10

One of the best films of the passed decade imo.
