I think I did actually. You could replay what happened but without all of the boring backtracking, taking ages, dropping items and the other rubbish. Shows how bad it is if I prefer a diet version on rails.

Far from worst. Top notch presentation that withstood the test of time very well, and had a great atmosphere. For me, the lack of the item box actually improved the old formula in the sense of making it more realistic much like the Outbreak games. I can see how it can be tedious for some, but that's where the infinite ammo weapon selection (earned via Leach Hunter) make replays very enjoyable.

Overall, the dubious honour of the worst goes to RE5. I've played the hell out of the game, but it really was essentially a generic shooter with RE characters. It even lacked the horror aesthetic that RE4 at least retained.

For me, from best to worst would be a tricky call but, if I had to make a list it'd be something like:

Original> RE5> RE3> RE2> Code Veronica> Rebirth> RE4> Zero

I'm sure many would be like WTF how is Rebirth so low on the list and how RE5 is so high? But, while not a bad game in the slightest, whatsoever, and while I absolutely love the graphics and atmosphere obviously of Rebirth, the game itself just never hooked me the way the other RE's did. From the changes to the characters, to the new voice acting, etc., it just didn't have the same feel of the older games in a way. Or perhaps I'm just too biased to the original. Either way, great, amazing game, just I prefer to play the others over it usually.

RE5 on the other hand, while changing way too much and not giving off the classic RE vibe etc., just resonates with me because of how replayable it is. It has my favorite char of the series, Chris, is multiplayer, has the big Chris/Wesker rivalry and the ability to actually fight Wesker, And has the mercs and versus mode which eat up tons of my time. They may come off as shallow reasons to like the game in terms of RE, but, RE5 is definitely the title I've played more than any other RE title to date. Even more than Outbreak, which is a feat in of it's own. Versus may be the anti-thesis to what RE should be, but, the concept just works for me because of how much I love RE. And being able to play a 'competitive' kind of game in the RE world with my favorite RE chars, and fight against other players is just plain fun to me even if it's outside the 'feel' of RE.

So despite it's many flaws, Re5 definitely ranks as one of my fav titles because of how replayable it has been for me. Outbreak, RE5, and RE1 Vanilla are the three RE titles I've replayed ridiculous amounts of times and for that reason, the three of them tend to be my favorite titles because of just how replayable they are while still being 'fun' each and every time I replay them. But, Outbreak is a spinoff and thus not on the list above, otherwise it'd probably be number one on my list.

RE4 gets dropped low because despite being fun gameplay wise, story wise it just completely lacked for me and was the absolute weakest for that aspect. And story is a huge part of what I love about RE despite how cheesey that may sound. Add in the absolute degradation of Leon, a char i once loved and yeah.

RE3 ranks high on the list for me because I just found it the more exciting than most of the others. I like horror games for the idea of being in a horror movie. And most of the other RE titles don't really give off this feeling. RE3's Nemesis, while highly flawed, helps bring back some of that feeling to me. Having him constantly show up and chase me around makes me feel like I'm being chased by Jason or Michael Myers or whatever other super human serial killer kinda thing you wanna think of. The other games throw random enemies at you which are all fun and nice but, they lack of the 'threat' that Nemesis poses because you know you can simply run into the next room and avoid them and that's that. Nemesis will actually follow you through to the next room and continue his pursuit and that helps a lot with creating the tension I enjoy in a horror game. (another reason why I loved Outbreak, with enemies following you through rooms, the ever ticking away virus gauge, getting away safely only to realize your team mate is in trouble and having to go back and take risks to save them, etc. All big tension grabbers) So RE3 is a fun game for me that I really enjoyed.

Still though, Zero takes the cake for worst. Not a bad game, and I enjoyed it in some respects, and Billy was a cool char. Just it was the absolute least interesting of the series to me. I actually only played halfway through it and then just gave up and let it collect dust due to lack of motivation to continue. It wasn't until RE5 was about to come out that I finally 'forced' myself to finish the game. As stated, not a bad game, just lacked the 'hook' to keep me interested and wanting to continue and truly care about it. Not to mention, as much as I love Rebecca, she is not main character material.

AH IkariWarriorKH that list is totally out of order! Just kidding your entitled to your opinion it is suprising you put RE5 so high on the list though mine would have to be from best to worst.

REmake - RE2 - RE4 - RE3 - RE0 - RE5 - Code Veronica.

This is purely from a story standpoint and overall enjoyability of the game. I played hours upon hours with a friend on RE5 but its not even close to my favorite. Where as Remake I beat that game over 100 times just by myself sometimes with my friend watching. It also had the best story and character development in the entire series with RE2 being pretty close especially in the replayability department.

Hmm pretty interesting lists here.

Here is mine:

REmake < RE5 < RE (original) < RE2 < RE4 < RE Code Veronic X < RE3 < RE Zero.

So yeah, RE Zero is the worst in the series.

I consider Dead Aim and Survivor to be the worst game. The only beef I have with Resident Evil 0 is the fact I wasn't used to having no item box to store items in and it be there. Instead you have to leave it on the floor and come back for it later.

I don't think Zero is the worst in the main series (RE5 takes that crown). That said...

RE2 > CVX > Remake > RE3 > RE4 > Zero > RE5

And we're only talking the main series here, because I think the Outbreak games are right up there with RE2, CVX, and the Remake.

I listed RE2 first since I've been so fond of the game for like 12 years now, but I really think CVX and Remake are close to it. CVX has the coolest story, but Remake has the greatest graphics (excluding RE5) and atmosphere.

Yeah. The REmake is in a class of its own. When I got it in 2002... I was like; "wow... this is in a class all of its own, and every new game needs to be like this one." Every RE game since has never quite captured that same level of scary-ness for me, cos none were really very scary or lonely.

Impossible. Code Veronica exists.

Really, REZero is awesome. The haters are gonna hate but RE0 is one of my favorite games in the series.

Of course it was flawed. The bosses were supremely uninspired and the environment wasn't the best. Of course, by this point we had been through 4 or 5 games that were Dull Corridor-Fests so that's to be expected.

Where this game really shines is in its characters. Even for an RE game, the cast is pretty minimal. Birkin and Wesker are involved but in a more side capacity. The distinct focus is on Rebecca and Billy.

Remember Rebecca Chambers from RE1? The ugly, useless, annoying boy-thing? Well say hello to REZero Rebecca. Modeled after J-POp Goddess Ayumi Hamasaki, she's actually not an eyesore to look at anymore. Also, to make sure I don't come off like a sexist pig, she's actually respectable in this game. I mean, you could actually understand how she got onto an elite unit like STARS. Based on RE1, I figured STARS members were chosen by selecting the people who got the lowest scores on an intelligence test.

Accompanying our awesome heroine is Billy Coen. You hear about Leon vs. Chris all the time but thos are just people arguing which cliche they like more. Do you prefer cheese and ham or a tree stump?

Billy Coen is...well, a good character. There's no other way to put it. His backstory is interesting, he's well-characterized and he just feels like a genuine human being. The rest of the RE series is mostly composed of stereotypes you couldn't even begin to imagine being real people. But Capcom really managed to make me empathize and care about Billy. (which you're supposed to do if you're a good writer)

Together Billy and Rebecca form by far my favorite duo in the series.

The story of the game isn't the best but ya know, you take wha tyou can get in terms of "plot' in an RE game. I enjoyed the Marcus Mystery and it's about frickin' time Capcom explained the origins of the T-Virus and Umbrella. Congrats! It only took you like six damn games that prominently featured the thing.

To continue on, the game has stunning music. Yes, I adore thiss soundtrack. Like the game, the OST is criminally underrated. it features possibly my favorite Save Theme among many other great tracks.

Worth mentioning is also that this is probably the first RE game with generally decent voice-acting. God knows CVX failed completely in that department and unless you count Outbreak, Zero was the first to have a respectable cast.

Fittingly, my final praise for this game is that it has my Favorite Ending in the series. Sure, a large part of it is my love for Becky and Billy but I just think everything from the scenery to the dialoue to the emotion of the moment was captured perfectly.

"Thank you, Rebecca."

Hilariously old thread, six years to be exact. Funny enough, I look at what I was writing six years ago and completely disagree. After games like Biohazard 5, something akin to Biohazard 0 would be a Godsend.
