A few years ago I was gonna make this exact topic over at THIA but I never got around to it.

I agree that it plays VERY similar to RE4. Off the top of my head:
Bruce's outfit is very similar to Leon's RE4 gear.
When I first saw Fong Ling I thought "Cool, Ada is Back!!!".
Fully 3d environments.
The over the shoulder camera (be it a bit further away).
The first RE game to have your bullets sending enemies flying and spinning through the air.

I love the controls. Personally, I don't find it awkward at all. The Guncon 2 is just perfect.
I've often thought it would have been possible to make a version of RE4 that supports the Guncon 2. The games play so similar, I think it could have been done... Ideally, when you aim it would jump to first person just like Dead Aim, or alternatively it could play like the RE4 Wii controls.

I really love when playing all the Gun Survivor games with a Guncon, how you mimic what all RE characters do on the screen. I walk around with the gun in my lap, then when I press the button to aim, I raise my arms to point at the screen (just like the on screen character! ). It really adds to the level of immersion.

I like Dead Aim. It was rather short but I had a lot of fun with it and I thought the story, atmosphere, graphics and gameplay were all quite good. It expanded on the controls of the original Gun Survivor (which were already very innovative) and was quite a revolution. There's never really been anything like it. I wish it was more successful so they would have been more likely to continue the series...

I've been trying to find a GunCon2 so I can actually play this the right way. It's disappointing that it's so hard to find one.

I can promise you, it will take you a LOT longer than that! He was talking about a 'speed run' and even then, it's a damn fast time. Playing normally, you'll probably finish in a time just short of the earlier games...

I didn't know they were now hard to find. There are other compatible light guns but the GunCon2 is easily the best, so keep looking. I can't imagine playing the game without one.
Also worth noting: you can't use light guns on LCD or plasma tvs (I have a Bravia HDTV but I keep my old Trinitron next to it, just so I can play gun games). There have been alternative guns made that supposedly work on HDTVs but when I read about them, they sounded a bit suspect. And with light gun games, gun accuracy is everything. Without it, the games would be more frustrating than fun... I havn't looked into it for a while. Perhaps there has been improvements, that actually work well.
Also, the GunCon2 dosn't work on the original Gun Survivor. For that you need the first GunCon.

Happy Shooting!

It was done by not killing any enemies and i didnt pick up a single item, except keys and such. Though the first time around it did take me precisely 2 hours counting all cutscenes.

I have always appreciated, and considered Dead Aim a main title, with direct link to the previous installmemts, rather than an expanded universe, light gun jaunt, side-issue ~ There need not be any criticism for Biohazrad 4, which is absolutely superb, and obviously far superior to Dead Aim in production & design; But, simply taken on its merits, Dead Aim stands convincingly as the true, next main installment, after Code Veronica ~ The story stacks up, without any incredible deviation from the last game {still a T&G influenced virus, an Umbrella employee, files with direct ref. to previous facts, zombies}, and there is a direct continuation & relationship with all the prior installments. The atmosphere on the boat is quietly sublime, and cranked up to sinister levels by the eerie background music. As a Remake/static camera/3rd person devotee, I was more than comfortable with the smooth cross-over into 1st person for combat, and the camera position was just further away than with Biohazard 4 or 5, which better suits survival horror.
Both protagonists are well voiced, and have their own interesting dynamic, and could perhaps be compared & described as a more colourful & enjoyable version of Leon & Ada ~ I certainly find Bruce a more interesting distraction, than the rather dry, humourless, & un-witty Mr Kennedy ~ is that unfair on Leon ?
Dead Aim does obviously have its flaws.....for me being the overly plentiful ammo & health items, lack of a proper bonus game {I don't count swapping character models}, no professional mode or significantly harder version after first completion, too short without enough files......mostly minor quibbles in the face of all the highs this Biohazard main title offers.
Umbrella had reached the pinnicle of their Hunter program, the Elite model being the toughest yet faced ~ If only there were more of these B.O.Ws prowling the deck.
I know it is correct classification, but it has always slightly concerned me that Dead Aim is often listed outside of the Main Title category, and in the Light Gun section......I would strongly suggest this game is a Main Title in all the aspects that would determine one as such.
How much of Morpheous' accusations & crimes re. his hand in the outbreak, are retconned by Marcus' admissions in Zero, is up for debate, but he provides us with a very plausible antagonist {cross-dressing distractions aside}. His experiments with the fashioning of both t&G in electrifying harmony provides much interesting debate, and importantly, is consistent with the prior virus/zombie context, without the dull complications provided by the non-viral & un-zombifying {new word!} las plagas & uroborus mess.

For a spin off, I thought Dead Aim was awesome. It was short but great. I liked how they tried to make it not unlike the other RE games by making it play out like the traditional RE games. For this reason, it was a surprise hit in 2003 and I thought 2003 and 2004 were great years for horror games. Not sure if I'd go as far as to compare it with RE4. It is of course still an RE game.

They threw in a good mix of first and third person. Questionable bad guy I suppose, but he did the job. Who would like to see a sequel to this?

i wouldn't mind a sequel, so long as they dont bring back the shemale (G) Morpheaus...
Also, add some replay value for chrissakes!!
