Getting my copy on Monday. NCS actually had it for $53, so even with S&H, I'm paying the same amount as the domestic version. It's going to be a full fledged $60 here even with the CAD/USD parity right now (the original was $70 for the record).

What i noticed about the ps3 version of LIN, is that there are some terrible frame rate drops here and there and anti aliasing is also not friendly in certain areas.

I've been hearing about a few frame rate drops from both console owners, which is quite odd considering how little engine is stressed. The AA factor however I'm not sure of, but if it's like the main game then it's still dynamic on both consoles. I'll have to have a look on my own TV.

The difference in the main game was that the 360 one goes from 4X to 2X then off, whereas the PS3 has QAA (2X but gives the same quality AA as 4X MSAA at the expense of some image blur) is either on or off. So the transition is smoother and not as jarring on the 360.

The triple buffering on the PS3 was a double edged sword in the main game. Even after patch 1.02, anytime the engine is stressed, the frame rate drops whereas the 360 one tears (bottom of the screen) while maintaining the frame rate.

Has anyone heard of a potential stretegy guide release for the gold/altenative edition of RE5?
I like collecting the guides and was thinking of grabbing the RE5 one, But I thought maybe they'd release an expanded edition for the Gold edition. Is there any word on this?

Hmmm had no idea, is that for folklore only or all(both) versions of sheva i wonder?
Does anyone know of any other pairings that cause unique melee attacks, and is it only the ground attacks or do others change as well?

Probably all versions of Sheva paired with Excella. I know of the Chris + Barry pairing that has a special melee, but I haven't actually played Barry with Chris co-op yet. Will do so once I get back home.

Thanks SG, i had a closer look at the image while i was replaying LIN and AA really does flicker on and off at random, but most of the time it's off. I was also wondering if the console versions of RE5 are locked at 30 FPS or not.

Yup, both are capped at 30Hz, but they drop at times. As I mentioned earlier, the performance varies because of the difference in buffering in each version even after the improvement with patch 1.02 and overall, the 360 one runs a bit smoother at the expense of some tearing. The difference in AA methods however is what made me give the nod to the 360 one. Not a fan of its image blurring.

Capcom's engine has some compatibility issues with some versions of the 360 hardware so some people got a lot of tearing while the game was upscaled to 1080p. Turning that off (down to 720p max) puts it down to the typical bottom screen that most don't even notice.

I noticed that, for some reason, in Mercenaries Reunion, the enemies don't damage/grab me anywhere near as much as in regular mercs. Not that they do it often there either, but I certainly notice a difference in Reunion. COuld be me, but I've really taken a note to this.
Perhaps it's a performance thing. Enemies somehow "lagging behind", but not the rest of my actions.

Anyone else notice this?

Seems to me like you've just gotten better. A lot of attacks can be very easily avoided if you've been hit by them enough times to learn how to evade it.

Unless I make a mistake, I don't usually suffer any damage for a while. Mostly until I get grabbed.

Well, that's the thing. In regular mercs, as soon as I'm surrounded and don't have a shotgun or effective weapon to blast many enemies back at once, I get hit or grabbed.
In Reunion I can somehow just run through them without taking any damage. Think at one point, there were two Big man Majini, an Executioner and a hell of a load of majini. I thought I'd be grabbed by a majini and then smashed by the executioner for sure, while one of the fat majini would bash my head in, but I just kind of...ran through them all, while brushing against them.

I played AR today with FT Sheva and was surrounded in that south-west area and they would not let me move at all. I was grabbed repeatedly; if not, I was smacked with something. Duvalias and Giant Majini...

For something so melee driven, it took a lot to not just go crazy and plow them all down.

Also, those annoying camper majini show up in a lot of levels now. Some just wait shooting bows and some camp throwing dynamite.
