I remember that going through the Engine Room (Chapter 6-3) was really difficult the first time, mainly when you open the 2nd set of bay doors. (2 Reapers, 2 Gatling gun Majini and a group of Base Majini.) It would be bad luck if you failed to bring at least one Rocket Launcher to use.
In my first time I had tried using the Proximity Mines to slow down (or hopefully kill) the Reapers. I then headed to the right to the lower area, then up the ladder to the high walkway. I stuck around picking off majini until the doors were fully open.
Now, seeing as it was my first time, I didn't really notice the mounted gun that was conveniently placed to the left of the Gatling gun Majini. I instead ran about the lower area, circling the Majini, and took shots when I could. It was a terrible strategy, but it worked.

Now, Biohaze, what was YOUR strategy in the Engine Room the first time?

The majini were leg shot and Neck Breakered.

For Reapers it was Proxy on the stairs when I was running away from them, and then machine gun their weak points when I was at the top barrier, jumping down if they were too close.

GG were magnum to the face and melee. Rinse and repeat.

I think my first time I actually tried to use the gatling gun but got myself killed. But it was so long ago that I don't really remember...

Now I just kill the reapers with super cool infinite ammo weapons before the doors open, and take out both gatling Majini with a single rocket.

The engine room is probably one of my favorite parts of the game (there's not many). I really liked the tension and the awesome music, both perfect for an endgame feel.

First time through, I couldn't seem to kill the reapers solo. I didn't know about proxy's killing all their life at the time, so I kept firing electric rounds at them, which, at the time, seemed to be the only thing I found that actually would kill them (over time).

So, Cryptic Sin who was also having a hard time in the finale of the game, and I decided to take our seperate solo runs and go at it together for that part. He brang some proxy mines and we lead them upstairs across the rafter and tried hitting them with the proxy's while I fired electric rounds at them. Eventually, it worked and we killed them. Then just used the gatling guns for the gatling gun majini.

It took a few tries and some effort, but, we eventually got it to work and moved on to Wesker.

When I think back to it now, knowing all I do about the enemies, guns, etc., I think how silly my first run through was and some of the strategies I emplored, but, that's half the fun of a first run anyway when you don't 'know' what works and doesn't work and you're in the heat of the moment. Definately one of my fondest memories of the game. The subsequent fight with Wesker was also quite intense and fun with Cryptic and I trying to meld strategies together to beat him.

I didn't know about that either, I just wanted to keep them as far away from me as possible.

I was playing with my brother and I don't know how this happened but we managed to get stuck in one of those tiny rooms with two reapers and two gatling gun majini outside the door. For a while they couldn't get through the door and my brother and I were just laughing our heads off. Until they got smarter and killed us.

Played it with my brother the first time, and we used everything we had. From pistols, to M3, to SVD sniper rifle, and grenades. Wasn't till our 2nd run that we used rocket launchers.
