I think they mean that they find it to be the weakest in the main series. Survivor was short, yeah, but you really had to play it three separate times to explore every area. Not my favorite kind of game design.

Yeah probably, but Capcom felt it was important enough to mention it in the opening of RE0... without a doubt the worst RE game, main series or not. That game shouldn't even exist.

All games are canon bar Gaiden, but Survivor is a spinoff obviously.

And I don't think it's that bad, the gameplay and graphics were dissapointing since it was the first RE game with realtime graphics - a departure from the at-the-time cutting edge RE2 and RE3 backgrounds - and was a FPS, not too exciting.

I don't get people's gripes with the story in RE5 either. The back story alone we got in the files and library was more than two or three other titles in the series put together.

My biggest gripe with RE5 was it just didn't live up to what I had set in my mind. My fault I suppose. I just think it should have been Chris and Jill that took down Wesker.. Sheva should have been a supporting character like Lewis from RE4, and Jill should have been Chris's partner. It would have made Wesker getting it with the rocket at the end more satisfying....
For a game that seems to bring an end to the main story arch, it seemed to leave alot of loose ends. What happened to Sherry? What role does Steve play in Weskers plans?

The game just put too much emphasis on action, not enough on story... We shouldn't have to sift through a bunch of files to get to the meat and potatoes of the plot.

There isn't any loose ends really. As we've stated many times before, Steve died in Code Veronica. He was never going to come back, that was just Wesker's taunt towards Claire. Steve figured in Wesker's plans by extracting the virus from his body and then selling it to Javier Hidalgo three years later.

Sherry is also unimportant now. She had the G-body antidote in her system yes, but she was in custody of the U.S. Government. Wesker could get access to her if he needed her, but he didn't.

The only dangling plot thread left is Ada and her organization. Absolutely everything else has been answered in one form or another.

Survivor's storyline alone stops it from being the worst.

I have to be in a really peculiar mood to play BH0, so it's the worst for me. I can generally pick up and play any of the rest simply because they're fuck-awesome.

But, it's story was kinda...shit.
So was the gameplay. And the graphics. It was all such a half ass'd effort.
The main gimmick about this game, it' light gun functionality, was stripped from the U.S release. That leaves no redeeming qualities for me. It's the one game in the series I have no desire to ever play again.

Personally I consider RE0 to be the most underrated game in the series. It has its flaws yes but I am surprised as its status as weakest in the series given it was the last of the 'classic' RE titles and has graphics that are superior to Remake. The atmosphere and soundtrack are spot on and I like Marcus as a character, and I mean the original Marcus here not the Queen Leech.

I agree, this is almost exactly what I think. However, I was not pleased with RE5 because, while the story did progress and covered loosed ends, most of the game felt kind of bland to me. The bosses were over the top, Wesker was over the top(although maybe bringing his insanity to it's limit was needed for him to go out with a bang), the game also took several things from RE4(locations, enemies, boss fights, even some of it's storyline), but didn't improve them? RE4 was only really action-heavy in the Island IMO, the rest of the game had several bits of survival horror that still felt like RE to me, whereas RE5 felt like an action-heavy game from start to finish.

Then there's the soundtrack(considered to be one of RE4's strongest points, atleast by me), which I thought was not very good(especially the boss tracks). That said, is the game enjoyable? Sure it is. Especially the mercenaries(although I consider RE4's mercenaries to be far superior).

Good point, but I think they just mentioned it because it was one of the only RE games out at the time (aside from the numbered entries and CV).

I agree with Nightmare here - the plot should be presented within the game itself. Another thing that irked me was that the files you actually can read throughout the game weren't able to be picked up and stored for later browsing. This was yet another watered-down feature in this game, along with the far less-complicated inventory (when compared to RE4's brilliant grid system) and forced co-op.

RE0 is weak when compared to, say, the Remake or RE2. But compared to RE5, it's a gem.

In the tenth anniversary re-release of Wesker's Report, this line was omitted completely, suggesting that Capcom had dropped any future plot lines involving Sherry as presumably she was to feature in 3.5 but all that was obviously scrapped.

Then in the 15th anniversary release in Archives 2, the line has mysteriously re-appeared.

The answer lies in the Japanese Inside of Darkside Chronicles book written by the development team. Sherry is in custody of the U.S. Government yet Wesker has spies working in the government and can get access to her if he needed to.

So the answer is technically both, ha ha.
