Here is my FAQ about the japanese server!
Hope it works out, I will edit to add more questions and answers when and if I think of more! ^_^
_________________________________________
Q: Japanese Servers? Those aren't closed?

A: No they aren't. The servers for both Outbreak games are still up.

Q: About how active are the games online?

A: File 2 is about as active as it was in America back in 2006, with around 100 or so players online at peak hours. File 1 is highly dead, if you want to play there you will need to know people or ask players from file 2 to meet you there.

Q: What do I need to join the JP server?

A: A japanese PS2, a japanese copy of the game, and ability to pay a monthly fee, preferably with a VISA debit or credit card.

Q: How much is the monthly fee?

A: It's very weird, seems to be somewhat random each month. One month you could be charged a quarter, next month you could be charged $10. It's NEVER more then $10 though.

Q: Japanese version? Won't they all speak japanese?!

A: No. All RE games have the same voice acting in japan that they do in America. Here is an example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNQwgFwo ... 5E&index=0

Q: I hear you have to register, how do you do that?

A: Here is a video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJNYQ7tLqn4

Q: What about communication with other players?

This is the main (and pretty much only) problem with going over to the japanese server. While some people do speak english (mostly other American/European players) most of the people do speak mainly japanese. It's no big deal for me though, just join a room, say the fast phrase for 'hello' and wait for it to start. Best to get used to playing games with very little planning beforehand, though.

What are the differences between the American and Japanese server?
In response to that I give you another video! That way you can see for yourself.

Great video walkthrough on how to register, I will definitely be doing so soon.

Would you reccommend a fat or slim PlayStation 2? It seemed like you had the HDD option on as it loaded fairly fast.

BTW funny example video. I love how David did not want his knife. :P

Can I just add you might want to change the blue text to a lighter blue, it's a bit straining on the eyes and difficult to read.

EDIT: Much better, cheers for that.

Do US/UK debit cards work for paying said monthly fee? Not interested for myself, but i'd recommend an Entropay account if you need to setup another way of financing a subscription. This is who i use in the UK to fund purchases on the US store. Very easy to setup, within two minutes of setting the account up i was paying for things on the US store.

Not sure if you even need it, just throwing the suggestion out there.

Well as long as you're using a Visa debit/credit card then you're fine. I'm using my UK Visa debit card and it's fine with paying for US/JP stuff.

Japan gets all the good stuff. :(

Amazing job with this section, this is genius. I am pretty sure there isn't much info on this anywhere on the web.

Just a reminder to everyone. The area you enter in your KDDI info is not in the network connections settings. Make sure to get your connection settings to come out to "setting 1" in hiragana. Instead of anything else. Then once you pass the DNAS you will then need to input your KDDI ID and Pass. Then make you HN very last.

You enter it on Capcom's Outbreak log in site that starts up before connecting. Obviously KDDI has nothing to do with your internet connection.

It's been along time since I registered for the game. Didnt know theirs a website after the network setup. You'd think they could make it easy by putting everything all in one place but instead you go through multiple steps.
If you're unaware and select the wrong options in the network connections it would be easy in my case to mistake it for asking my ID and Pass which I had no idea what it could have been besides my KDDI ID and Pass because thats the only one I had. The ID and Pass I was trying to get through was for PPoE and some other stuff. I really dont know what any of that is in the first place. Im just not educated enough in those terms. Then when you throw in kanji it's harder.
I should have answered no to all of them, instead I answered yes and that lead me to the only area I could enter anything in. Which is unmarked and just asking for a login ID and Pass. So eventually I figured I could pull out my american copy to find out what I was doing wrong, checked it and thats when I figured out my mistake.
Call me stupid or whatever, but that was confusing for me and if anyone else is going to go through my problem in the future they should be aware of it because this is the only place to find help.

I know what you're thinking. Me living in Japan I should be able to get through all of this on my own. But thats not where ive been focusing my time. I know hiragana and about 70% of Katakana and about 10 total Kanji. These past few years ive spent 95% of the time on vocal skills. Vocabulary, pronunciation, etiquette. Reading and Writing has proven to be unnecessary for me past what I already know.
With exception to a few occations like this.

Has anyone ever had an issue registering for the KDDI service?

I've been having some interesting issues doing so. During the course of my registration I've seen two pages with some "[M--]" code lining the page.

There's seemingly no issue with the info I've put in, as no stars appear next to any field. I've gone and roughly translated the text with iGoogle, and both have yielded some interesting results:

One of the M code pages stated that the information has been entered before, while the other says that the credit line does not work. (Although the first page seemingly has an error, it lets me continue anyway) The latter of which, sends me back to the field entering screen.

For the second issue, I've gathered that my Debit Visa had insufficient funds, but it didn't make any sense because I was sure of upwards of $30 present on my card.

I'm going to use a different Debit Visa, but I don't think this will solve the issue. I'm thinking that the KDDI is suddenly becoming aware of the many people that live at the address of Capcom's Japanese headquarters along with the false phone numbers and such.

---

I have the system and game, the Network set up, can go on-line with Biohazard, but I don't have my User ID and Password because of this issue. What luck...

As a side note; I've used both Foxy's video and the Myspace guide more than once for reference. My issue occurs after Foxy's video, and the Myspace guide suggests a page (that shows ID and Password) that doesn't show up.

I can give more detail if requested. I'm a little perturbed because everyone else has seemingly had a flawless conversion, but I think a little guidance can set this issue straight.
