...my wife got me REmake!!! Yes! I'll finally get to play what I read everywhere is "the scariest and most difficult RE in the series".

I'm pretty psyched to play this game, as I've read reviews (and seen pics) that there are whole new areas to explore and new enemies.
I just hope it lives up to the hype.
Now, Jill or Chris for the first run?

Well that one is up to you. Nice gift though, trust me you will enjoy every minute of it. Personally I used Jill first. Just because I like her new bewbs.

I went with Jill first, shes the easiest for the first run in my opinion.

REmake? Difficult?
Who told you that?

Yes, it's one of the scariest, but I can name at least 5 games in the series I found to be more difficult.

Also, Jill should definitely be your first run.

I also suggest you make separate saves for Chris and Jill, never play through both characters on one save. If you do, you will unlock "One Tough Zombie" mode, which makes the game alot more annoying, in my opinion.

No way man, ODZ kicks ass, hearing forest running around actually gives you an incentive to move as quickly as possible, plus he doesn't bother you for long anyway.

The first couple playthroughs aren't that tough to be honest, if you really want a challenge initially though, choose Chris and make sure you select 'Mountain Climbing' as opposed to 'Hiking' after selecting your character, it's the games way of indirectly asking if you'd prefer to play on easy or normal.

But the game offers some of the most difficult unlockable modes in any Resident Evil, Invisible Enemy is a good example, try it on hard, I guarentee you'll die a lot more than you'd expect your first time through, unless you already know the game inside out, and even then, it's still pretty tough.

I suppose it's fine the first time you experience it, but the fact that you can't turn Forest's appearances off irks me to no end.

Playing as Chris on hard mode your first playthrough is indeed quite difficult. Not nearly as difficult as Resident Evil 0 on hard mode (Ammo? Ha!), but pretty difficult.

It is most definately the scariest RE, though. No doubt about it. Zombies randomly bursting through doors, crimson heads, and the beautiful backgrounds make all the difference. It makes you scared just to navigate around the mansion.
