Good point on the music. I was going to compare the two titles music, but yet again, they ended up being so tough to compare. CODE: Veronica has that high quality orchestra, yet Biohazard 3's eerie and tense tracks were perfectly fitting. I especially love City of Ruins / City Lost in Ruins : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NFTb0dNSjM

I voted for CV/x, for reasons that I'm currently too lazy to fully explain. Most of my feelings have alreadby been posted by other members.

I just got an incredibly epic and final feeling from CV, the scope of the game was so huge, and the fate of the world was often at stake. The return of Wesker made me pee myself. Almost. It's hard to explain, but CV just had an incredibly powerful effect on me. Re3 is very fun, and I've probably replayed it almost as much as I've replayed Re4, but none of the play throughs had such an impact as CV.

The music in Re3 fits the tone and setting wonderfully, but I prefer CV's epic and exciting songs. The style was really different from any past RE, as well. The music adds so much to the overall epic feeling that I get from playing CV.

A few of my favorite tracks:

Edit: How could I forget this? The first battle with Alexia is absolutely one of the best parts of the game. Plus, if you purposefully kill yourself like I did, you can watch the previous cutscene over and over.

Some of you may not have been into the series then or didn't pay much attention to the consensus, but Biohazard 3 was widely agreed upon as being the worst title in the mainstream series. I fully disagree as I loved it back then and even have a new found respect for it now.

I suppose it depended on the crowd. There was a lot of hype surrounding RE3's release solely on the fact that it was on the PS1, but CV was the press' darling particularly that it was on the DC. We were still expecting it in Nov. as I recall. One of the issues of EGM I scanned earlier on had a poll that gave RE3 a huge edge over CV. It was also the first title in the series that Capcom undershipped domestically and worldwide, which eventually was the main reason why they had a rosy FY 99 (alongside the JPN performance of DC1)

The press was certainly not kind to RE3 and I found it baffling that CV got so much praise months later given its gameplay shortcomings. I never took shine to CV... I certainly didn't hate it but the story and gameplay setbacks didn't sit right. Recently, I actually became appreciative of its well designed adventure while ignoring the story and awful villains. I felt that the Ashfords were superseded by Excella and Irving as the worst villains ever in the series. so that doesn't matter as much anymore. The bad VA is comical now too.

Similarly, I appreciated the REmake a bit later than most. I still prefer the original to this day though, but it can be appreciated by itself as another entry.

Parts of RE3 haven't aged well (dodging, odd ammo mixing) but the atmosphere and Ueda's score is still as good as I remember it. It's also my 4th favorite game of all time so I naturally voted for it.

I thought RE3 had probably the best puzzles in the series as well.

You really think so? , and what do you think about the puzzles in RE1?, thoses are really complicated to resolve, just remember it it give me headaches

But yeah, RE3 have difficults puzzles and also cool too, just remember the last one in the game with those water sample, man, really hard the first time.

And getting into the question, I totally preffer RE3, because CV is remember me in some of his "stages" to RE1, of course it's sure be for the relation between the Ashford family and Spencer (if I'm not remember it wrong), and the game have to long ways to cross over and over every time, and it's bored, and well, even if RE3 isn't so long like CV it's, the history of RE3 connected in RE2 either, is too great, the atmosphere, the tense and fear into Raccoon City is just to asome and screepy, Nemesis, the Ueda songs into the game, all too great.

So, for that reasons and more, I prefer more RE3.

Oh yeah RE1 had some great puzzles as well, so did Remake and RE2, but I think the water puzzle puts RE3 just above the rest. It's a challenge every time for me still.

I never got why people were so hard on RE3 back then. When I played it, I played it dark...meaning I avoided magazine and other reviews of it until I finished it. I loved it, then I read reviews saying how poor it was compared to 2. The only downside of the game is that compared to 2...2 had more replayability due to two characters and multiple scenarios. But when you compare other aspects, it was superior. QUICK TURN AND PERHAPS ONE OF THE GREATEST ENEMIES IN THE HISTORY OF VIDEO GAMES.

Compared to CV, for me it is not even a contest. While I thought CV was an ok game, it just didn't have the same feeling that I had playing through the first 3 games. I don't know if it was the pacing or how the game was ridiculous from the start with Claire's gunplay antics in the beginning cutscene.

I'm a huge fan of the city setting, the idea of the 100,000 populace succumbing to the virus, then after your flesh felt a lot more intimidating than the island which probably had a population of a few hundred at most. Not to mention Nemesis was a terrifying foe back in those days, the idea he could follow you room to room and even use weapons against you, opened a whole new level of fear within the franchise.

I personally prefer Jill as a character to Claire, so I was a lot happier playing as her (despite her wardrobe malfunctions ). Although it was fun to play as Chris again, and Code Veronica X brought a lot more plot points. I'm sticking with RE3 due to the fact I love the enemies, the settings, the score and the characters.

I'm all about the story and CV(X) really drove the plot. Not to mention it pretty much established Wesker as the series' main villain.
