*blink* Huh? You never 'hit a nerve'...what are you talking about? I was merely stating what I know. And I know SF4 isn't the only SF game around, that's really obvious. But you said SF4 wasn't easy peasy in comparison, when it kinda is. This doesn't mean the old SF's weren't hard, SF4 is just really dumbed down as you said.

You really shouldn't take stuff so seriously, just cause I state a bunch of facts I know doesn't mean I'm offended or something. That goes to everyone else to.

I'd love for you to pinpoint where I said "SF4 wasn't easy peasy" in comparison. SG79 stated that BB players fussed about SF's execution or "any other fighter for that matter". He didn't say "SF4's", he said "SF's", also including in "any other fighter". And when I said "hit a nerve", I meant by going into a hard defensive detail about BB and assuming that the execution would be hard for me (or potentially anyone else). Point is, I don't think BB sucks, I personally don't feel for it (I don't play Guilty Gear either). Do BB players have to work for damage? Well, while I don't recall anyone saying that they don't, I think they do. I have a respect for the game and it's community, but everything I said (which wasn't even meant to be taken as bashing) was stuff based on what I was told.

In fact, Yama you've had some personal experience with the game. Being from an experienced FG background, what exactly are your thoughts?

Also, sorry I'm not really participating much in the SFxT discussion. I honestly am excited for the game, but I think it's pretty moot to go into a discussion to it because the game won't be out for quite some time. I'd actually rather talk about MvC3 and see who they're going to add next (Wesker, Ms. Marvel plz).

Come on Jacko there is no MvC3 discussion because we all know Ammy will celestial brush god tier ;)

Yea SFxT is more then a year off. We'll see MvC 3 before it heck we may even see SF3TSO or an update to SSF4 (HSF4?) before we see SFxT.

Captain Commando, Strider and Hayato I want my team to stay unchanged but I'm guessing Ammy and Dante might end up In considering none of my guys got confirmed...sad panda.

Absolutely. Ill add you soon, dont worry im quite green myself.

This is just a general question to those who are competitive video game fighters...

Im trying to get good in blazblue, enough to be considered good with a character..not world class or anything at all but with the ability to go into any online match and hold my own

Basically, all I have been doing is going to training mode and repeatedly doing combo after combo after combo, like for hours just repeating combos. I often find in matches I panic and pretty much start button mashing, or making bad mistakes with my spacing, with blocking etc.

So in other words, any tips to a newb in the online fighting world? I guess those playing bb would be best to answer as im sure there is a lot of difference between different fighting games.

I tried some of the uhh challenge mode..and that was just depressing. Any combo with cancels in it destroyed me, and even the basic 5 command inputs were sometimes a task for me.

Thanks for any input

If you have problems versus human opponents, but you can execute combos properly, you should probably use arcade mode to practice. This way you can practice against a variety of moving opponents.
But what will really help you is to learn how to block certain character's moves and how to punish them. For example, how to punish Ragna's Hell Fang if you block it (although no decent Ragna player would just throw that move out unless he knows it will connect or he has the meter to roman cancel)

Whoever is speaking, tell them to stop. Go do a fast-fly combo or ground ROM, then come back and let's talk.

Just because you don't play advanced doesn't mean it's nonexistent.

Either way, I won't talk about stuff I don't know about if you do the same. Implying BB players don't work hard for damage was kinda silly, unless I assumed something you didn't mean.

It was actually a MvC2 joke, but whatevs. I'm experienced enough in this scene to grasp the concept between games different input difficulties. Once upon a time there was a non dumbed down fighting game scene, I was a part of it. This scene consisted of strict execution and rediculous combos; combos that were not CPU assisted and existed for more than visual flare.

The reason I decline playing BlazBlue is like Jacko said, it's not for me. You may have to work for the damage, but it's still an easy input game. To me that is half the work, it's too accessible and doesn't widen the true skill gap. It leaves me with no rewarding value. This doesn't mean I hate it nor wouldn't play for fun, but I wouldn't dedicate time into it. That's all.

Sorry for not catching on and misunderstanding then, to both you and Jacko.

I wouldn't call any of the longer combos in the game easy to do though, like just last night I spent over two hours trying to do one of Jin's combos in CS's challenge mode, and it took me forever to do it once. x.x

Mind you I am using a controller...but I don't think that would matter much since I'm used to it, this is why I don't believe it to be an easy input game, that's all. *shrug*

It's more like, easy to learn the basics, but hard to truly master, I guess. :P

Moving on I suppose, APPARENTLY blazblue is getting a party game spinoff for the DSi.

It looks adorable, but hopefully it'll have more then the five characters listed. That would be kinda lame.

Like Foxy, maybe I shouldn't listen to anyone then, including you. Seems to be the consensus and felt fairly easy based on what I played (input wise, that's all were talking about here), though admittedly it wasn't my cup of tea and I moved on to other games. I'm sure there is a skill level far beyond, like anything really. I respect that.

I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but you were crying about what easy damage Noel did and how scrubby the game/character was. So apparently you changed your persona here or have some new light to shed. :kendo:

Hate to butt in, but after playing Noel for quite some time, I must say she is one of the hardest characters to use for multiple reasons. Especially now that she's been nerfed to bottom tier.

All of her good moves have start up lag, she can be predictable, her only reversal requires you to be in chain revolver, her damage isn't anything super amazing, etc etc. This was true even when she was mid-tier, she just had some better stuff then to balance it out. I'll never understand why they felt the need to nerf her... :(

She definitely requires alot of patience to play. Now, if V was saying Ragna was a scrubby character, then I'd definitely agree with that.

As for the game being scrubby, I dunno, but Continuum Shift has vastly updated and improved the formula. Maybe that's what caused V's change of heart? Though he'll probably say himself.
