Made it to the end of my HD run and had plenty of ammo for the final battle. Had 70% of the Assault Rifle plus the 50% clip, Grenade Launcher with 12 grenade rounds, 1 acid round, 8 flame rounds, Glock Handgun with over 80 rounds, Shotgun with 14 rounds, & Magnum with 12 rounds.

The only two things I screwed up on were not having 'any' heals for claire when I got to
Spoiler:
steve
and dropping all the guns as Chris off before the switch to claire because I forgot if Claire needed to fight anything else, so that left me with only a Glock to fight Alexia 1st form with.

Regardless of those two blunders, I managed to escape from Spoiler boss without taking a single hit, so I didn't even need the heals thank god (else I'd have to have restarted from a save way back). And was able to easily kill Alexia with only the Glock. So it all went pretty well and I finally got around to beating the damn game and getting all but 2 of the achievements. I'll worry about the rocket & linear launcher achievements some other time.

But, yeah, this game can be very unforgiving if you don't plan ahead. And any game where you know what to do and what to expect is easy. It's the fact that anyone playing the game for the first time doesn't know what to do and the game has no mercy for that. It doesn't say hey, a boss battle is coming up and you won't be able to backtrack, let me give you some heals and ammo, or hey you're about to switch chars, would you like to give them your current weapons? Or worst of all,
Spoiler:
with Steve and basically requiring you to have 2 full heals to survive unless you know how to avoid him, which apparently even most RE vets don't know how to do that. And heals are incredibly scarce to come by, so that part in general will really screw over a new player.
That's what makes it one of the hardest in the series.

I've only played through CVX twice since I've had it. The first time frustrated the hell out of me and the second wasn't so bad and was part of an RE marathon. My first time, of course I fell for all the first timer stuff such as forgetting the fire extinguisher, blowing all my ammo on the tyrant, leaving all my good stuff with Claire when the game switched me over to Chris, etc. My ending time somehow ended up being around 14 hours O_O! My second, though, shaved 8 hours off and I ended in a more generous 5:20 or so. Still got a crappy grade, but whatevs. Code Veronica is pretty hard to get used to. The thing that weirded me out was that I beat Alexia's final form on the first try and I didn't even get poisoned! Talk about strange luck.

Alexia's final form is pretty much her easiest form. All you do is run around when she attacks, then take a shot. If you miss, run around again until she stops spitting fire, take another shot. There really is nothing hard about it.

Various ways not to take damage.

The knife trick is actually something I learned from Outbreak, never thought to apply it to CODE: Veronica originally. Knife Dodge was a way to make yourself invincible to Thanny's horizontal attacks, useful for David players.

Yeah I just ran behind him. Didn't know about the knife bug. That's pretty funny.

I meant the one before that. I forgot that the flying part was another form. The really annoying one with the little tentacle pod things that wont stop whipping the hell out of you while Alexia spits acid on you and smacks you with giant tentacles.

I would say so, simply because the tyrant. In the plane. When you're not expecting it and never picked up the incendiary arrows/crossbow. Also, I have a big fear of spiders, it kept me from getting past both CV's spider boss and RE1's for a long while. x_x

Based on the sheer volume of people getting stuck and having to restart when they face the tyrant on the plane with no weapons, yes this is the hardest. The most repeated topic I have seen. As a game overall it's not that bad, but the others don't have anything like that. Zero for overall difficulty, and general annoyance levels (I am not a fan) particularly due to the whole item combination (molotovs) and zapping system which is just terrible as a design. Outbreak is something else entirely, so I put that down to it being meant for online.

How do you get to the tyrant on the plane with absolutely no ammo at all and have to restart from scratch?? You must be pretty wasteful to do that. On my first playthrough, I saved the MP100 for just the occasion like this and downed him pretty fast.

Funnily enough, I found Resident Evil 3 much harder whereas a lot of people seem to find it easy.

Some people simply don't understand that the older games in the series weren't about killing everything in sight.
