Tokyo Game Show 1996 - Biohazard 2 is first announced, set for a holiday season 1997 release. In the very first images, two characters are shown in an overwhelmingly bluish RPD: Leon S. Kennedy and Elza Walker, two characters that would never meet in any playable version of this game. Before being scrapped in 1997, two months before it's destined release, it was said to be 70% complete. A bold move by Mikami to scrap the project when it was so far into development, though his actions were never questioned after we received what is still arguably the best Biohazard game to date, of classic formula. After the release frenzy of Biohazard 2 however, suspicions started to raise of what could have been - curiosity took over. Though most don't question Biohazard 2's superiority, many would still like to play what could have been - in some shape or form.

Leon underwent a few changes through Biohazard 1.5's production, at first his costume was a set of civilian clothes with a short buzz cut - in the final build of Biohazard 1.5 however, he sported the same costume as he does in the final Biohazard 2. Elza stayed the same through 1.5's two builds, though was finally replaced by Claire Redfield, which perhaps makes her the biggest question of Biohazard 1.5. Though she shares basic similarities with Claire, it is un-certain if she would have been looking for Chris as well. Some argue she would have a similar storyline, as a friend of Chris' compared to being his sister - though that is far from factual and in many ways I personally think there was much more to her.

The only official form of Resident Evil 1.5 that was ever presented was through the Biohazard Complete Disc. This included various Biohazard Director's Cut Dual Shock Version saves along with four videos of Resident Evil 1.5. Some neat notes were seeing Marvin and other survivors in the sewer, Kendo late in the game (at least further than the shop), Sherry and her "loving" father - William Birkin, infected. Aside from the many new areas, one that stuck out in particular was the helicopter roof that Leon would start on. We don't know what he complaining about, but it was most likely in the intro previous to that clip - possibly seeing the truck crash, like in Biohazard 2. Below are the four clips from the complete disc.

Resident Evil Archives talks teamwork:

Leon was to team with Marvin and Ada, who was a scientist in this build. Elza was to team with Sherry and Kendo throughout the game, thus letting him live longer if not to the end. This was especially interesting to me as I wasn't sure on the woman in video #2, this however confirms that it was in fact Ada Wong.

Biohazard 1.5 relived:

Areas resembling Biohazard 1.5 can be found in Biohazard Outbreak, The Hive scenario. The RPD roof from Leon's scenario in 1.5 looks somewhat similar to the one found in Outbreak, which happened to be the hospitals. The hospital in Outbreak was modeled to match up to Biohazard 3's, though it was much larger. I found that some of the newer areas' layout resembles some of the 1.5 RPD, for anyone seeking anything Biohazard 1.5 in playable form, I'd check it out.
