REUC – ARKLAY RESEARCH FACILITY “MANSION” NOTES
Construction of the Spencer Mansion is completed. It is built over
two main floors and includes a worker’s quarters and fully operational
laboratory.
RE0 – MARCUS’ DIARY 1: MARCH 23RD
As work on the Progenitor Virus continues, Spencer confides in Marcus
that he is planning on starting a company to cover up their research.
Marcus isn’t particularly interested as long as he can continue his
experiments into Progenitor; Spencer can do what he likes.

UNOFFICIAL EVENTS: MARCH-AUGUST
Spencer and Edward Ashford begin to lay down the foundations of a new
pharmaceutical company which would eventually come to be known as
Umbrella. James Marcus continues his research into progenitor. Edward’s
son Alexander visits the mansion and is taken in by its beauty,
particularly the main hall.
RE1 – INVITATION: JUNE
Lord Spencer officially moves into his mansion in Raccoon Forest.
RE0 – MARCUS’ DIARY 1: AUGUST 19TH
Spencer keeps pestering Marcus to become the Director of his new
training facility, which will be constructed in Raccoon Forest a few
miles away from the Mansion. It will be used to train and educate future
employees of their company. Marcus initially isn’t interested and is
becoming sick of Spencer’s pushiness. However, he begins to realize that
having a special facility to study the Progenitor virus on his own would
be an advantage, and so he agrees to Spencer’s request.
RE1 – INVITATION: OCTOBER 9TH
Lord Spencer writes a letter to George Trevor commending him on the
excellent living conditions of the mansion. However, something
unexpected has come up and he invites Trevor and his whole family over
to stay, promising them a huge banquet in their honour.

REMAKE – TREVOR’S LETTERS 1: NOVEMBER 10TH
RE1 – TREVOR’S ORIGINAL LETTERS
The Trevor family have been invited to the completed mansion by Lord
Spencer. Trevor’s wife Jessica and their daughter Lisa arrive on the
evening of the 10th. George, who is away on business, is scheduled to
arrive on the 13th. Lisa plays the piano for her host, who warmly
approves. As the music plays, they watch the moon illuminating
beautifully in the night sky making the surrounding forest environment a
beautiful sight to behold.
However, something much more sinister is going on here.
REMAKE – TREVOR’S LETTERS 1
George Trevor’s Aunt Emma falls ill and is hospitalised.

REMAKE – FAMILY PICTURES AND NOTES
The two women are captured and held against their will. They are
taken to the labs deep within the bowels of the mansion. The progenitor
virus is administered to both of them. Jessica is injected with virus
type-A. The researchers note of plasmolyzing of tissue during cell
activation. The virus fusion is negative and Jessica will later be
disposed of.
The daughter, Lisa, is administered with virus type-B. Again, there is
plasmolyzing of tissue during cell activation. The virus fusion is
positive but delayed. There were constant results of body modification.
The researchers are happy with her progress and keep her under
protective observation.

LETTERS 1: NOVEMBER 13TH
RE1 – ORIGINAL TREVOR’S LETTERS: 6PM
George Trevor arrives at the mansion. Lord Spencer notifies him that
Jessica and Lisa have gone off to visit an ailing relative. Trevor
doesn’t give it another thought, as he is revelling in his work at the
magnificent mansion. He notes how the main hall is very spacious and the
central stairs leading to the main hall are also very impressive. George
decides the work he has done on this place is the work he is most proud
of.
As the evening wears on, the two men enjoy a banquet in the dining
room on the fine mahogany dining table.

REUC – A LETTER TO SOMEONE
A stricken Jessica Trevor writes a letter to her daughter Lisa. She says
the shots given to her by the men in white clothes make some of the
itching go away and today she has another shot, they say it is
nutrition. She writes how her memory is fading each day and that they
have to plan some sort of escape attempt. Next time they are taken to
the lab they will pretend to be unconscious and when the man in white
clothes is off guard they will have their chance. However, this plan
fails to come to fruition.
REMAKE – TREVOR’S LETTERS 1: NOVEMBER 14TH
RE1 – TREVOR’S ORIGINAL LETTERS
Spencer takes Trevor on a tour of the mansion and informs him of his
plans to establish a major chemical and pharmaceutical conglomerate
called the Umbrella Corporation. The mansion will be used as a
guesthouse for company personnel and VIP’s. Trevor notes how wondrous
the mansion is. The rooms are decorated with expensive pieces by Raphael
and Da Vinci. Spencer has collected these works over several years and
Trevor believes he must be one of the richest men on the planet and that
he oozes self confidence.
REMAKE – FAMILY PICTURE AND NOTES
Meanwhile, in the bowels underneath the mansion, Lisa writes in her
journal that she is still feeling dizzy from the shot the men gave her.
She can’t find her mother and wonders where they have taken her. She had
promised her they would escape together and Lisa begins to get paranoid
that Jessica has escaped alone and left her behind.
REMAKE – FAMILY PICTURE AND NOTES: NOVEMBER 15TH
Lisa is starting to become delirious under the effects of the
experiment. She scrawls in her diary that she has found her mom and that
they ate together. But she suspects that she is a fake and that she is
not her real mom. The same face but different inside. She decides she
has to find her real mom and give her face back. She wears her mother’s
face so she doesn’t go away. Lisa knows mom will be sad when she meets
here without her face.

REMAKE – FAMILY PICTURE AND NOTES: NOVEMBER 17TH
Lisa has found the sarcophagus chamber located under the mansion. She
notes that she can smell her mom inside the coffin. However she cannot
open the coffin because of the steel chains in the way.
REMAKE – TREVOR’S LETTERS 1: NOVEMBER 18TH
RE1 – TREVOR’S ORIGINAL LETTERS
Trevor is beginning to worry about his family’s whereabouts. He is upset
because he cannot find a telephone anywhere in the mansion, apparently
none have been installed yet. He goes up to the second floor terrace to
clear his mind. However, the crows perched on the railings unnerve him
with their constant stares. He cannot shake the feeling that his every
move is being watched.
While out walking in the courtyard, he finds a secret tunnel, one
that was not part of his design plans. Before he can investigate further
however, he is apprehended by security guards who tell him he shouldn’t
be wandering round alone.
REMAKE – FAMILY PICTURE AND NOTES: NOVEMBER 19TH
Lisa continues to scribble, though her writing is barely legible now.
She tries to write down what has happened to her family and that she
just wants to be with her mother.

RE1 – TREVOR’S ORIGINAL LETTERS
Whilst rooting around the first floor, instead of the shotgun that his
wife had given Spencer for his birthday, he finds its broken, rusted
counterpart in its place. He is becoming increasingly worried he cannot
reach his family and tells Spencer he plans to travel to his relatives
to meet up with them the next day. Spencer reassures him telling him not
to worry and that he will be seeing them again soon.

RE1 – TREVOR’S ORIGINAL LETTERS
Trevor packs his bags and prepares to leave. Before he can however,
he is asked to come down to the reception room {picture puzzle room},
and is escorted there by one of the courtroom guards. Once there he is
informed coldly that his family is dead and is then knocked out with a
sedative agent.

Lisa writes that she misses her mom. It is her last entry.
REMAKE – TREVOR’S LETTERS 2
RE1 – TREVOR’S ORIGINAL LETTERS
Trevor has been imprisoned for four days now. A man in a lab coat
arrives with a skimpy meal for him and informs him that he is sorry
about all of this but it is for security reasons. That is when Trevor
discovers what is going on. They want to kill him so only Spencer will
know all the mansion’s secrets, including the labs. He thinks of his
family and decides he will try to escape.
REMAKE – TREVOR’S LETTERS 2: NOVEMBER 26TH
RE1 – TREVOR’S ORIGINAL LETTERS
Trevor curses his carelessness. He has lost his favourite lighter; the
one Jessica gave him for his birthday. Now it will be much harder for
him to escape the darkness of this place. He concludes that November
13th was the date his fate was sealed. His aunt was hospitalized three
days earlier. Jessica and Lisa said they were going to visit her. They
can’t be dead, can they? He struggles to remember what the men in lab
coats said to him before his consciousness fades.
REMAKE – TREVOR’S LETTERS 2: NOVEMBER 27TH
Somehow, he manages to escape from his cell. But he realizes escaping
from the mansion won’t be easy as there are hundreds of puzzles and
booby traps. He forces himself to try to remember them all.
RE1 – TREVOR’S ORIGINAL LETTERS: NOVEMBER 28TH
Trevor stumbles across one of the experiments, a huge plant that
fills an entire room. He is horrified; surely God could not have created
such a thing.
REMAKE – TREVOR’S LETTERS 2: NOVEMBER 29TH
He is resigned to the fact that he cannot get out. He has been
everywhere. The laboratory with the large glass tubes, those dark, eerie
caves…
He is struck with horror when he stumbled across a familiar high-heeled
shoe in the corridor.
He realizes it must be Jessica yet doesn’t want to believe his family
have shared the same fate as him. He won’t give up hope.

RE0 – MARCUS’ DIARY 1: NOVEMBER 30TH
Spencer complains to James Marcus about the progress of the Progenitor
project. Marcus is livid as he realizes Spencer thinks of the virus as
nothing more than a money-spinning tool. But he realizes that if
Spencer’s influence continues to grow, it can only be bad for his own
research. Marcus decides that if he is to properly develop the
progenitor, he has to strengthen his own position too. He will take more
of an interest into the founding of their new company from now on.
REMAKE – TREVOR’S LETTERS 2
Trevor hasn’t had any food or water for a few days now. He feels like he
is going crazy. He curses himself with being too obsessed with designing
this ghastly mansion.
He finds himself in yet another dark and damp underground tunnel, and
another dead end. He lights up his last match to find a gravestone. On
it bears his name. He collapses, realizing now that they had let him
escape, knowing he would end up here to die. His last thoughts are of
his family.

RECVX- ALEXANDER’S MEMO
RE – THE CATALYSIS
Alexander Ashford, now head of the family, realizes that he is now at a
major disadvantage as there is great competition in the field of
research for what would later be known as the ‘Tyrant Virus’ and its
properties.
He begins to believe himself that he has disgraced the great Ashford
family that his ancestor Veronica had established. In order to let his
dead father rest in peace, he will do everything he can to stop Spencer
from getting total control of Umbrella.
He decides to devote all his time to this task, without being detected
by Spencer in the process. As the company begins to flourish, he gains
permission from the board to construct a new large-scale research
facility. It will be situated at the Ashford-owned transport terminal in
the Antarctic. He decides that within this new facility, he will have a
room built, similar in design to Edward’s mansion, the legacy of the
late George Trevor.
REOUT2 – OLD PAMPHLET
The Kite Brothers railway line is completed and opens in Raccoon City.
To start with it has only one mile of track and three stops. But over
the next 20 years thanks to economic rejuvenation from Umbrella, it will
increase to 8.5 miles and 8 stations by 1989.

RE0 – B.O.W REPORT
In his private labs under the Church at the training facility, James
Marcus conducts a detailed report on the Progenitor Virus and the work
they have performed since its discovery. He notes that research to date
shows that when the virus is administered to living organisms, violent
cellular changes cause a breakdown in the system and that no
satisfactory method has been found thus far for them to be able to
control the organisms for use as weapons. Insecta exhibit only explosive
high-energy growth and increased aggressiveness and therefore it is
difficult to envision using them as BOWs. Amphibia reveals limited uses
as examples such as frogs result in abnormal appetite leading to them
randomly attacking all moving objects. For Mammalia, the progenitor was
merged with monkeys’ cellular DNA, resulting in increased fertility,
improved aggressiveness and some increased mental capacity. A side
effect was that sight was lost, but this was offset with an improvement
in hearing ability.
Marcus concludes however, that all these subjects were unsatisfactory
as weapons and that no progress will be made unless humans are the base
organism.
