Alexander begins working on a secret project away from the prying eyes
of Spencer in his new lab. His aim is to revive his great ancestor
Veronica by using tissue samples of her mummified corpse to create a
clone with higher intelligence. The project is codenamed ‘Veronica’ and
he is confident the research he will perform will restore the glory of
the Ashford family.

RECVX – CODE VERONICA REPORT
At the new Antarctic facility, Alexander discovers the gene that
controls a human being’s intelligence. He takes a preserved DNA sample
from Veronica Ashford and extracts the intelligence gene from her DNA.
He implants the modified genes into a surrogate mother and as a result,
twins Alfred and Alexia are born. Alexia is an unparalleled genius,
while Alfred has higher intelligence than normal but is nothing more
than an unexpected by-product in the experiment. Alexander believes
Alexia’s unparalleled genius will elevate the name of the Ashford family
to supreme glory.

WESKER’S REPORT
17 Year-old Albert Wesker and 15 year old William Birkin arrive at the
Umbrella Training Facility. Wesker originally aspires only to be a
leading researcher for Umbrella but after meeting Birkin is suitably
impressed and makes him realise his potential. He now wants to take a
very different course in life.
RE0 – ASSISTANT DIRECTOR’S DIARY: SEPTEMER 2ND
At the training facility, the Assistant Director notes that the latest
batch of new trainees are a useless lot, as always and wonders where
headquarters manages to find such idiots. He notes that he cannot
complain however because this time they did get a couple of decent ones;
William and Albert. They might have a future.

RE0 – MARCUS’ DIARY 1: SEPTEMBER 19TH
After over ten years of research on the progenitor, Marcus’ research
finally pays off. He has created a new virus type using progenitor as a
base. He mixes it with leech DNA to get the breakthrough he needs. He
calls the new virus ‘T’ for Tyrant, named after Marcus’ own nickname for
Sir Spencer.
However, he keeps this find a secret from Spencer and the other
higher-ups of the company, deciding to research the new virus himself
before making any announcement.
RE0 – ASSISTANT DIRECTOR’S DIARY: SEPTEMBER 25TH
The Assistant Director continues to write up reports on Wesker and
Birkin. Scholar Will, practical Al, they really are opposites. He notes
that they are always very competitive in everything they do and that
there is something ruthless and cruel about them both.
RE0 – ASSISTANT DIRECTOR’S DIARY: OCTOBER 7TH
The assistant gets a sudden call from Director Marcus. It is to tell him
to encourage a rivalry between Albert and William. The Assistant
Director remarks to himself that it is the first time since the training
facility was built that Marcus has ever shown an interest in anything
other than his research. He decides that orders are orders however, and
will have them tearing at each other’s throats.

RE0 – MARCUS DIARY 1: OCTOBER 23RD
Marcus becomes frustrated with his lack of progress on the T-Virus by
experimenting on rodents. He realises he needs human test subjects if he
is to achieve any real progress.
RE0 – MARCUS’ DIARY 1: NOVEMBER 15TH
Marcus begins to get paranoid that someone may suspect something about
his work. It may just be his imagination, yet if he catches anyone they
will find themselves involuntarily ‘assisting’ his research.
1978
REOUT2 – JOSEPH’S NOTEBOOK
Joseph Murrows becomes the gatekeeper at the zoo in Raccoon City.
RE0 – MARCUS’ DIARY 1: JANUARY 13TH
After much work, Marcus’ T-Virus leeches are ready. Soon, he will make
his move against Spencer and take control of everything.
RE0 – MARCUS’ DIARY 1: JANUARY 31ST
Marcus discovers that the devices he set to protect his work have been
disturbed, indicating that someone has come looking for ‘T’ and the
leeches. He is of no doubt it is members of Spencer’s group.

RE0 – LEECH GROWTH RECORDS: FEBRUARY 3RD
Marcus administers T into 4 leeches. Their will to survive leads them
first to parasitism and predation, and then they breed and multiply. He
notes that such single-minded biology makes them attractive candidates
for future bio-weapons. Afterwards, no major changes are observed.
RE0 – LEECH GROWTH RECORDS: FEBRUARY 10TH
After 7 days since virus injection, the leeches show rapid growth to
double their former size. Spawning is successful and signs of
transformation apparent. They double their numbers in an hour yet their
ravenous appetites lead to cannibalism. Marcus hastens to increase their
food supply, but he loses two of them.
RE0 – MARCUS’ DIARY 1: FEBRUARY 11TH
Marcus’ discovers more evidence of tampering to the entrance of the
labs. He needs to find a suitable way of dealing with these people. He
considers having Wesker and Birkin flush out the pests as they are the
only two he trusts, apart from his beloved leeches of course. {Ironic as
it is Wesker and Birkin who are doing the snooping.}
He realises however that if Spencer found out about his research and
that he had kept a new virus a secret from him his life would not be
worth living. He decides instead to officially announce the Tyrant Virus
at the next director’s meeting and collect his rich rewards.
RE0 – LEECH GROWTH RECORDS: MARCH 7TH
Marcus provides the leeches with live feed, but lost half of them when
the feed fought back. He notes however, that they are learning from
experience and beginning to exhibit group attack behaviour. They are
also ceasing cannibalism. Their evolution is exceeding Marcus’ initial
expectations.
RE0 – LEECH GROWTH RECORDS: APRIL 22ND
The leeches no longer exhibit individual behaviour, even when not
feeding. They move as a collective. They consume everything Marcus
offers with remarkable efficiency.
RE0 – MANAGEMENT TRAINEE’S DIARY: APRIL 23RD-29TH
A trainee wonders what Director Marcus is researching all the time and
that the staff are becoming increasingly disturbed with his obsession
towards leeches. There are rumours spreading around the facility that
there is something dangerous about the leeches. Just the other day his
colleague Dennis just touched one and he got ill with a bad fever.
RE0 – LEECH GROWTH RECORDS: APRIL 30TH
Marcus notes that an employee has stumbled onto his experiments. He
wonders if a human could be a possible food sources and how the leeches
would react to it.
RE0 – MANAGEMENT TRAINEE’S DIARY: MAY
The trainee notes that earlier today he heard horrible moans coming
from behind the lab doors. He decides he won’t go anywhere near the
leeches, even if Marcus asks him to. He doesn’t want to end up like
Dennis, itching and scratching all the time.
It appears that curiosity gets the better of him however as his
journal entry becomes less and less legible and it appears he succumbs
to the same fate as Dennis.
RE0 – CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTE INMATES LIST
Marcus continues his research illegally by using human subjects. Over
fifteen people are involved with four rendered a failure, two preserved
as specimens, six transported to research facilities and the remaining
two transferred to the Arklay Laboratory for further study.

RE0 –LEECH GROWTH RECORDS: JUNE 3RD
Marcus is ecstatic with wonderment as the leeches begin to mimic him as
if they recognise him as their father. He realises he now harnesses a
tremendous power. Now he will move against Spencer in force and
permanently remove him from power.

RE0 – GAMEPLAY: JUNE-JULY
REUC – TRAIN DERAILMENT 3
RE - ARCHIVES
After growing evidence that Director Marcus has been withholding
potentially groundbreaking research progress and increasingly disturbing
reports that he has been using company trainees as guinea pigs, Spencer
orders him to be assassinated. He puts Wesker and Birkin in charge of
the job and he is gunned down in his private lab whilst he is working on
his leech queen.
As Marcus struggles with his dying breath, he cannot believe Wesker and
Birkin have betrayed him. Just before his vision fades, Birkin mockingly
tells him that he will take over his T-Virus research.
Marcus’ body is dumped into the sewerage system and washed down to the
treatment plant to rot. However, his queen leech follows and locates his
corpse. It nests inside his body, beginning a miracle process to
procreate and evolve…
RE - ARCHIVES
With both Edward Ashford and now James Marcus dead, Ozwell Spencer now
has total control of Umbrella and arguably the most powerful biological
weapon in history with the Tyrant Virus. With Marcus now forgotten,
William Birkin will take the credit for the creation of the T-Virus.
WESKER’S REPORT 2: JULY 29TH
The Arklay training facility is abruptly closed down after a thorough
investigation into Marcus’ work. However, for their potential over the
last few years and their ongoing loyalty to Spencer, he rewards Birkin
and Wesker by transferring them to be chief researchers at the Arklay
Labs located at the Spencer Mansion. Birkin abandons Marcus’ research on
leeches and will concentrate using the T-Virus to create a human
biological weapon with the eventual goal of creating an army of super
soldiers resistant to all forms of attack.
WESKER’S REPORT 2: JULY 30TH
As their new assignment nears, Wesker spends most of the day memorising
the maps and layout of the Spencer mansion and its labs.
WESKER’S REPORT 2: JULY 31ST
REUC – WESKER’S REPORT EXTRACT ON “HER”
18 year-old Albert Wesker and 16 year-old William Birkin arrive at the
Arklay Labs by chopper for the first time. They are greeted on the
helipad by the Umbrella President, who they completely ignore as they
now have full authority over the labs, as ordered by Spencer himself.
Birkin is studying research papers on Ebola, a filovirus discovered in
1976 in Africa. The virus is a ruthless killer, yet carries too many
imperfections and is easy to kill. Yet, Umbrella’s new aim was to create
a ‘human’ biological weapon, an idea that an infected host would
actively set out to find and infect another living being. This was to be
the basis of Birkin’s work on the T-Virus. One property of the mother
virus, which was discovered some years ago by Spencer and Edward
Ashford, was that it was an RNA virus, which have a tendency to mutate,
as well as modifying genes. Birkin’s initial idea was to combine the
Ebola gene with the mother virus to enhance its peculiarity. The Ebola
sample had already arrived at the lab.

Once they reach the labs however, they meet the captured human specimen
which the T-virus was to be used to develop on. Lisa Trevor. She is now
25 years old and has been receiving all kinds of viruses for 11 years
since the experiment started on 10th November 1967. She is tied down to
a shabby hospital bed and at that moment Wesker wonders if they would
lead the research to a successful conclusion or if they would end up
like her. He knew how far Spencer would go and that they had no choice.
